Image is the famous photograph Raising a Flag Over the Reichstag, taken during the Battle of Berlin.

On Friday is May 9th, which is the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, which Russia, among other places, celebrates as the day when the Soviets defeated the Nazis. Naturally, one of the current hotspots of fascism in the world today, Ukraine, is essentially threatening that they might strike Russia or even Moscow itself during that timeframe. Any such strike would almost certainly be symbolic and not aimed at anything too important, as I doubt even Zelensky and his American handlers would actually want to kill a world leader, not least somebody like Xi Jinping. But I would not be surprised if they tried something nonetheless, if only to disrupt the event in some way and not actually kill anybody.

And, as we’re on this topic, @EllenKelly@hexbear.net has reminded me that Tuesday is the anniversary of the Nazis burning the Institut für Sexualwissenschaf in 1933, an early institute advocating for the rights of LGBT people, and which also provided early forms of gender-affirming surgeries, as well as hormone therapies. We are currently seeing a crackdown on LGBT rights throughout swathes of the imperial core (as well as countries in the periphery, to the extent that those rights existed there already), and this Nazi-inspired movement will be similarly defeated in the future.

If anyone was wondering the reason for the Oreshnik missile threat: Starmer, Macron, and Merz are in Kiev for talks on the “coalition of the willing” to potentially enter the war against Russia. Clearly Russia sees this as a serious threat this time.

I think they are orchestrating the coalition stuff, the 30 day ceasefire demand, and Trump’s sanction threats to create a situation where there is no easy response for Russia. They can either accept a defeat, or lash out and look like the bad guy.

Swedish Security Advisor post seems cursed. The first one kept leaving classified documents behind, and the new one has decided to resign after less than 24 hours because a journalist found his Grindr profile.

It is a bullshit post that was started because the Moderates desperately want to be West Wing libs, so hopefully they will just stop trying now.

Come on Don, you know ending a border dispute as difficult as this one is not the same as a ceasefire.

It would be easier to end the India-China dispute than this.

This mayor getting arrested in Jersey thing seems like an obvious escalation to arrest of political opponents with ICE as the Gestapo.

    • facility is run by GEO, who have a $1t contract with the federal government and obviously every relevant politician holds stock in. The mayor has actively fought against it since its inception
    • he is in the Dem primary for governor, not polling terribly and is vocally anti trump
    • I haven’t seen the entire video and don’t care to, but according to the article, he went on with the congress people, was told to leave and complied, rejoining the protest on the street. Masked ICE agents then dragged him back onto the property and arrested him in handcuffs. AFAIK he is still in detention

The U.S. Navy has spent over a billion dollar on ammunition on Yemen. It lost more than half a billion in flying equipment and managed to achieve nil.

I wouldn’t say nothing was accomplished, that conclusion can only be reached in isolation. The Israeli bombings of Yemen that took place over the past two days would not have been possible without the US carrying out their 50 day bombing campaign, with capabilities only the US has, in B-2 stealth bombers and EA-18G Growler Electronic Warfare aircraft. Yes, even for a force with rudimentary air defences such as Ansarallah/the Houthis, those assets/capabilities are now needed to suppress their air defence network to a sufficient level. Yemen has a lot of systems, many Iranian in design or origin, even if locally manufactured. Israel doesn’t have the capabilities despite their large F-35 fleet (no EA-18Gs or B-2s in Israeli service), in reality the only country other than the US even close is China, and surprisingly I’d also put Australia third with their sizeable EA-18G fleet.

The Israeli bombing campaign did billions of dollars in damages to Yemeni civil society, their airport and airliners were completely destroyed, along with cement factories and their sea ports in Ras Isa (that was a US operation) and Hodeidah. Yes, none of this is explicitly military targets, but as the author points out, there are none left that haven’t been hit multiple times by over a decade of bombings. And blowing up tunnel networks in a country as vast as Yemen, which requires unique “bunker buster” stand in bombs which have to be dropped directly over the target, and where the location and purpose of such structures isn’t as well known as say Iran, becomes a very expensive game of whack a mole that produces minimal results beyond leaving a big hole in the ground. That’s why Israel bombed the cement factories, to try halt the repair and construction of these tunnel networks.

Much like the Gaza ceasefire previously, I wonder how this will hold up long term. Are Israel going to continue bombing Yemen as Yemen continues lobbing ballistic missiles in their direction? Will the UK start more bombings on Yemen with their aircraft carrier arriving in the Red Sea soon (unlikely, but if pressured enough, they might not have a choice). Will the US restart bombings on Yemen?

It was easy for me to forget how poor Yemen is when Ansar Allah was fearlessly bleeding the US military of billions of USD, holding the Red Sea blockade, and terrorizing the zionist regime directly.

Yemeni Resistance is cool as fuck and absolutely worth celebrating, but the US-israeli bombing campaigns have probably inflicted a much more difficult cost to bear on Yemeni society, which was already in a dire economic state. Yemeni GDP per capita is like $500 USD.

The Palestinian flag-adorned Al-Azhar Mosque in Cape Town’s District 6 near the city center had received a bomb threat, reportedly having originated from Miami. This also occurred after the conclusion of the Week4Palestine/Red Card Israel demonstrations in Johannesburg and Cape Town. - Salaamedia

Also in Cape Town, a Jewish author of the book Lost Property by the name of Megan Choritz was expelled from the Jewish Literary Festival for “harbouring extremist political views (pearl-clutch)” - wearing a Keffiyeh and being an active member of the SAJFP. She then set up a table outside the Holocaust Museum and was quickly subject to harassment by the police and antisemitic attacks from Zionists, with her stand even being trashed and chairs thrown across the road. Her assistant and another member of the SAJFP Jared Sacks was also assaulted, with the cops of course, doing nothing and just sit back as a Jewish activist is getting attacked by violent extremists in front of the Holocaust Museum. - SAJFP, News24

And in what should arguably be the most damning and critical news of all, the comments of Channel 14’s producer Elad Barashi had very recently been brought to light, where he had made incitements of genocide against Gaza, a day or two after the most recent ICJ hearings concluded. The comments originated on 27 February 2025 in Hebrew and were apparently then deleted, either by Twitter moderation or by Elad himself once the reality set in on what he had typed. They have been already archived and translated during the first half of this week, with some traction on non-mainstream media. Channel 14 is also a very major mainstream outlet in ISISrael. Of course, we already know the genocidal intent, rhetoric and actions of the fascist ISISraeli entity and the near-total support for escalatory violence. But these most recent comments are …quite different. what-the-hell

CW!!! Disturbing Content, Racism, Nazism, Holocaust Inversion, Antisemitism
Are you REALLY sure you want to view this?

Elad Barashi in his exact words, has advocated for a Holocaust in Gaza, “with gas chambers, concentration camps, boxcars, and more (ovens. He means ovens.)” He even spells out the word Holocaust, letter by letter. And yes, these words were actually said and posted. Already long before this filth was published, heads of state in ISISrael were using thinly-veiled Nazi terminology regarding Gaza, with the objective being an actual Final Solution. And now NetanSShatu’s favourite programme Channel 14, has put every single crime of humanity in Gaza into the exact same context as the Holocaust perpetrated by the Third Reich. This was just days before Ramadan marked the end of ceasefire and the refusal to accept anymore hostages or further progress on multistage ceasefire plan. As if a sign, even Hamas has already referred to ISISrael as a Nazi entity and as of the 27th of February 2025, ISISrael is very literally a Nazi state, in the fullest sense of the word and not at all hyperbolic. Even the people spamming “Release the hostages” and “Bring Them Home NOW” aren’t dissuaded. I confronted one and the response was not “Hamas propaganda” but “they deserve the gas chamber because 7 October”. We are literally at this point officially. The moment this kind of evil was posted and translated, 27 February 2025 completely nullifies 7 October 2023 in it’s entirety. An admission of Holocaust in the fullest extent of the word should be the most important and damning evidence. And of course, right at the anniversary of the Red Army’s holy crusade to send the vile Nazis in Berlin to the eternal hellfire. - CAIR, The New Arab, PressTV, Quds News Network, Archive of the original written in Hebrew

Here is also an image of the offending content translated into English

Pakistan has started it’s retaliation against India, they have named it Operation Bunyan Al Marsoos.

    Goverment of Pakistan statement

    Xcancel mirror

India and Pakistan are at war.

Pakistan has fired Fatah-1 Guided Multiple Launch Rocket systems (GMLRS) and Fatah-2 Short Range Ballistic Missiles (SRBMs) at military bases in India. All conventional missiles at this time. India is responding with air operations against Pakistan.

Pakistan is responding with air operations of its own, reporting that their fighter jets have crossed into Indian airspace to carry out strikes inside India.

Unconfirmed reports of both sides shooting down each other’s fighter jets. Remember all 4th generation of 4.5 generation aircraft, no fifth generation stealth aircraft for both sides, and both sides have poor suppression of enemy air defence capabilities. In an all out war like this, there will be a lot of losses until a zone of control is established. Pakistan had the advantage in the initial engagement, but that doesn’t mean it’ll hold all the way through.

Srinagar being attacked by Pakistani fighter aircraft according to NDTV, Indian media.

Both sides reporting within visual range engagements, known as dogfights, between the Pakistani and Indian Air Forces.

Indian media reports that two Pakistani Air Force fighter jets have been shot down.

Pakistan Prime Minister Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif calls urgent National Command Authority meeting, the government body overseeing nuclear weapons.

Pakistani sources say that their JF-17 aircraft targeted India’s S-400 air defence system using “hypersonic missiles”. That would explain the reports of Pakistani aircraft entering Indian airspace, none of their anti radiation missiles have the rage to hit Adampur from within Pakistan, so they would have to perform some kind of Wild Weasel mission within Indian airspace. As for the hypersonic claims, I guess the closest thing is the LD-10 anti radiation missile, a PL-12 missile converted to an air to ground anti radiation role with a top speed of Mach 4+. Anti radiation here means homing in on the electromagnetic radiation produced by radars, nothing to do with nuclear weapons.

Again, everything unconfirmed at this time.

There are a lot of questions about the potential nuclear aspects of such a war, the article I’ll link below covers that quite well, despite the title it’s not just about missile defeat strategy, and yes I’ll repost it for a third or fourth time, if anyone has a better source describing it feel free to share:

Decker Eveleth, 26 April 2025 - Pakistan and Missile Defense Defeat Strategies

Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

American decline took off with the 70s move away from the Keynesian policies that saved American capitalism in the 30s. That move was fueled by stagflation caused by price shocks. The largest of which being the 1973 oil crisis, which was caused by the Yom Kippur War.

It seems like it all goes back to Israel, and American support for Israel is ultimately what’s killing America. Or am I missing something?

I think it’s more appropriate to look at it as the Capitalists capturing the state after the New Deal reforms so that they can claw back some concessions to labor. The ride-or-die attitude is IMO entirely due to the CIA via Engelton (operating on behalf of the oligarchic deep state) outsourcing very delicate clandestine domestic work through the Israeli account in order to protect their operations and actions from accountability to other elements of the agency and state. This A. creates a situation where you want to prop Israel up so you can continue to use them as a cats paw and B. puts Israel in the position where they have compromising information to make demands of America.

So I guess what I mean is, it’s not like America is ride-or-die for Israel and this single-mindedness is destroying it. Rather, being Ride-or-die for Israel is a consequence of the Capitalist’s violent reaction to Keynesian reforms.

The new Pope, Leo XIV (Cardinal Robert Prevost from the United States), is 69 years old. He spent much of his career as a missionary in Peru. He was named a cardinal by Pope Francis in 2023.

The new pope hails from Chicago and has supported Francis’s line on social justice issues. Francis invited him to Rome to head the Vatican office responsible for selecting priests who will serve as Catholic bishops around the world.

Trump has already congratulated Prevost. “I am honored to know that he is the first American Pope. What a thrill, and what a great honor for our country. I look forward to meeting Pope Leo XIV,” Trump wrote.
