Incredibly common in western economics circles, especially among “academics” who specialize in financial economics, have not studied how commodities markets actually work, or have never actually worked in industry. One of the initial things that ended up radicalizing me was working “in the real world” after college and seeing just how little of my economics education took the concept of power into consideration. They can shout about supply and demand all they want, but if someone shoves a gun in your face, the guy with the gun is setting the price, not the market. The way economics is taught in most of Western academia really is more akin to religion than science.

I don’t personally see many paths right now to bring this conflict to a more complete halt.
The first is somehow managing to shut down the BTC pipeline. Israel isn’t substantially hurt by the blockade of Hormuz because the majority of their oil doesn’t transverse it. But Iran can’t attack Azerbaijan without stoking a more dangerous ground war with Azerbaijan and likely Turkey, and Turkey has yet to grapple with the contradiction of its “pan-Turkic” relationship with Azerbaijan against he fact that it’s supposed client state is actively fueling the war machine of a country that is now saying “Turkey is next”.
The second is somehow getting South Africa to stop sending coal to Israel. For all of its work with the ICJ, South Africa remains one of the main suppliers of Israel’s most needed fuel source for electricity production: coal. If Israel starts having rolling blackouts in the middle of summer, or they have to decide between domestic fuel consumption or fuel for the war machine, I think the domestic situation gets increasingly untenable in a way that could force Israel to the table.
The third, most powerful and also seemingly least likely, is China realizing that they are going to have to actively get involved and throw their economic weight around if a deal is to both get done any time soon and actually be enforced such that this war doesn’t immediately start up again. That likely involves a Chinese embargo of Israel or at least severe economic sanctions, plus making some tough threats and ultimatums to some of Israel’s regional and weaker global allies. Its been my opinion for a while that China could end this entire conflict in a few months by using their economic leverage, but it’s strategy the country seems to want to avoid at all costs to maintain their current foreign policy strategies.
Maybe there is enough strain on the American capitalist class to force Trump’s hand, but I have trouble seeing it right now.

A lot of what Francis actually did, at least to my understanding a lapsed cradle Catholic, was basically internal stuff to sideline or purge a bunch of the real reactionary psychos from the church hierarchy/deep state. I’ve been told by some people I generally trust to know more about it than me that basically there is no Leo without Francis getting rid of a bunch of the old guard and replacing them with his own guys. Also, the Church’s growth is no longer in the West. It’s Africa and maintaining its presence/fighting the evangelical movement in Latin America, plus maybe some growth in Asia. That eventually necessitates a shift in church policy and teachings. But yeah, it’s still the Catholic Church, you can’t completely remove all the freaks and you shouldn’t expect it to lead a communist revolution.

Personally, I would start hitting recruiting offices or the houses of recruiting officers, but those are almost certainly too “low value” to use an Oreshnik on.
Another option I can think of would be any sort of data centers/communications hubs that are particularly important to the Ukrainian state. Eroding their ability to surveil the population would give room for more anti-state actions.
Another would be any of the weapons startups that have sprung up in Ukraine. Hit the office and the engineers directly. That’s a 1:1 for university students that’s justifiable, IMO.
