ICE could be considered paramilitary, Delta Force is just part of the actual military. Paramilitary usually is defined as a civilian group organized like or to assist the formal military, whether sanctioned by the state or not. But the IRGC was officially created as part of Iran’s armed forces so I’m not sure exactly why it’s called a paramilitary here.

Good timing for the story to come out, right as media has been propagating all the stories about how dangerous AI could be, along with Ansarallah supposedly using Claude to develop their missile systems. It could be organic but the sudden increase in “scary AI” stories feels artificial to me, like the bourgousie media apparatus is looking ahead to the bubble bursting and setting up scapegoats like terror groups using it, requiring regulations, instead of admitting that they squandered billions of our dollars for nothing.

True, there was possibly an explosion heard in Riyadh before they took off that I haven’t seen any more details about, bonzerbarry suggested they could have just been airborne to avoid potential strikes.

OSINT sources are reporting at least a dozen US refuelers currently visible flying in the gulf region. @bonzerbarry and @MenchOSINT have been posting updates on US air force activity in the area, seems likely there will be strikes sometime in the next few hours.

Trump stated earlier today that the response to Iran’s recent “surprise” attack on US forces in Jordan will be “very harsh”, they are going to “beat the shit out of them.” He’s said this sort of thing a lot but thoughts are it will be heavier than recent strikes because of the pause and the large number of air assets that have been brought in during the last week. Last I saw there was estimated to be around 100 US refuelers in the region.

If the US or anyone opposed to Iran actually cared about these workers they would have them evacuated by air or some other means if they requested it, but the west wants them trapped or killed to justify the US military’s actions.

This is basically the conclusion I’ve come to that has eased my mind greatly in the last few years. Most westerners and probably many non-westerners are fully idealist and have no real view of what is going on geopolitically. We can work with the reality they are in while still appealing to and doing the real work with true materialists. It is too exhausting trying to logically convince western-propagandized idealists with real data and reasoning.
