Holy shit speech of a lifetime and she absolutely killed it.

Those are not the words of someone who is going to be a willing puppet and if Trump believed that to be the case he’s sorely mistaken. The poor military guys at the table look absolutely sick with fear.

She called for the unified forces of the people, the military and the government to rise in defense of Venezuela, saying “we will never be a colony again, of an ancient empire, a new empire, or an empire in decline”

They are also of course demanding the immediate return of Maduro

I really wish that they had any hope of military defense against these kinds of strikes (or equivalent offensive deterrent) and/or that China had the same global posture as the USSR.

Rodriguez pulls a Chiang Kai-Shek and enacts martial law in Venezuela, justifying the suspension of bourgeois democracy with Maduro’s capture and the inability of procedural bourgeois democracy to continue. Now ruling over the country as Generalissima, Rodriguez proceeds to enact much needed land reform by expropriating land from the Venezuelan bourgeoisie.

According to their constitution, the VP is in charge for up to 90 days in the case of the president being temporarily unavailable:

      (Article 234)

A President of the Republic who becomes temporarily unavailable to serve shall be replaced by the Executive Vice-President for a period of up to 90 days, which may be extended by resolution of the National Assembly for an additional 90 days.

If the temporarily unavailability continues for more than 90 consecutive days, the National Assembly shall have the power to decide by a majority vote of its members whether the unavailability to serve should be considered permanent.

If it looks like the unavailability is permanent, then — since Maduro was within the first four years of his term (if it was within the last two of the term, then the VP would take up the office of president for the remainder) — an election is called within 30 days of the declaration that the unavailability is permanent, and the winner of the election serves out the remainder of the constitutional term:

      (Article 233)

When the President of the Republic becomes permanently unavailable to serve during the first four years of this constitutional term of office, a new election by universal suffrage and direct ballot shall be held within 30 consecutive days. Pending election and inauguration of the new President, the Executive Vice-President shall take charge of the Presidency of the Republic.

In the cases describes [sic] above, the new President shall complete the current constitutional term of office.

“The founding fathers would be ashamed!”

George Washington was a wealthy slave owner who hired a bounty hunter to hunt down a teenage slave girl who ran away from his house (while he was president).

Thomas Jefferson was quite literally a pedophile, while also being a wealthy slave owner.

James Madison had a secret half-black son who he SOLD AWAY when his wife got annoyed with him.

Woodrow Wilson held a special screening of “Birth of a Nation” (the pro-KKK movie) IN THE WHITE HOUSE. He is also in the credits of that movie as a consultant.

Harry S. Truman committed a genocide against Korea.

LBJ and Nixon committed acts of genocide in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Reagan: AIDS crisis, Iran-Contra, “War on Drugs,” destroying Unions, etc. (list of crimes is too long to recount).

George W. Bush: Directly caused millions of deaths in the middle east.

In reality, Donald Trump has just taken all the special qualities of previous presidents and combined them into one “Voltron” of American leadership. The power of racism, the power of pedophilia, the power of genocide, the power of willful ignorance, and the power of capitalist realism combine into one, the ULTIMATE AMERICAN. Coming soon, from the makers of Cyberpunk 2077, comes: Technofeudalism: 45/47

Carter actively courted the evangelical movement bringing them into US politics in a mainstream way.

Reagan was literally a movie star and on a reality TV show prior to being president (General Electric Showcase House where Reagan and Nancy lived in and showed off a “modern” house as a giant advertisement for GE)

Yeah definitely I brought up the evangelicals because that was the new horrible stuff Carter added that later reactionaries perfected.

US Presidents have been doing and allowing genocide to happen pretty much the whole times it’s been a country.

But even Trump being a reality TV star supported by whack job Christian fundamentalists isn’t new.

Didn’t George Washington rotate his slaves out of Maryland, since Maryland had a law that; after ninety days (?) they would be emancipated? He would send them out with his wife when she left the state.

It was actually Pennsylvania that had the emancipation law. When George Washington was president, Philadelphia was the temporary capital, as Washington D.C. was still being built. If you watch the John Adams miniseries from HBO, you can see the moment Adams moves into the White House while it is still being built (by slaves of course).

Ah… That makes sense. I thought it was in Maryland, misremembered it. Looking into it, it was six months or 182 days actually. He would rotate them between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Mount Vernon, Virginia; resetting the six month clock. Thanks, I was spreading misinformation, unintentionally.

Yeah if you think Kamala wouldn’t have done something like this, you’d be wrong

Sure she probably wouldn’t have actually kidnapped Maduro (more likely she’d have killed him outright) and wouldn’t do it literally at the start of the year or have openly said she wants to steal the oil but what she would have done is wrap this imperialism in humanitarian language to make it more palatable to libs like you and she would have launched the operation in late spring or early summer to maximize the possibility of a military win making her and the party look strong in the midterms

I remember when she said: “I will ensure that America has the strongest, most lethal fighting force.” The crowd went fucking wild. The only reason you’d say such a thing is if you’re planning on doing lots of military adventurism.

Considering she called Iran the greatest adversary of the US, it’s highly likely she would’ve gone all in on bombing and invading them, and the libs would’ve cheered her on and called her a girlboss for having the courage to stand up to bAd CoUnTrY. Shit would’ve been insufferable.

I think people are being a bit too harsh here, but I think what they took exception to is the implication that Trump is not representative of the USA or that he is different from previous leadership. Sadly, the USA has always done things like this.

Who’s “we”? I am not represented by the illegitimate terror regime known as the “US government” which has failed to produce any free or fair election for decades (if even at all really if we’re being honest).
