Bad choices of those on SNAP…

    1. Joined military to serve my country and this is how they treat me!
    2. Worked for government, got DOGE’d, and no one is hiring!
    3. Picked the wrong birth parents and at 6 no one will hire me!
    4. Lost job over 50 and those kids won’t hire me!
    5. Lost job to AI and I went to Standford!
    6. Pro-life and kept my baby! 7)…fill in the blank

Lindy Li is so FOCKING insane and desperate for anyone to like to her. She was a Dem fundraiser for years, and after realizing that just working in the party wasn’t going to get her accepted as a candidate to get into office (because of her insanity), she switched to this ultra-MAGA psycho BS she’s spouting today.

It’s attention whoring at its lowest in order to try and get into office anyway she can. She’s not well liked enough due to her clear mental instability, so she thinks hating on whomever the “other side” is will curry enough favor to get a fast track to…something.

This tracks because the GOP is the party of unqualified illtempered pedo loving dipshits… They target the vulnerable because they cherish them as delicacies. Then they blame the victim to assuage their atrophying pangs of guilt about how selfish and selfserving they’ve become in life and everything.

Does anyone know of any examples of politicians swinging hard in the opposite direction? I’m not talking about things like the Lincoln project or changes made up to age 25 or so, but actual significant leftward movement from adult politicians.

        Don’t worry, that’s not why I’m asking. No, she’s a rat forever.

I just wonder if it’s always in this direction. My suspicion is that it tends to flow from more discerning parties to less discerning parties, and in the US right now, the republicans are the least discerning of the national parties. I could see people moving from actual leftist parties to the greens (in the places where the greens are either liberal or controlled opposition) in other countries, I’m not sure if they’re leftist in some countries), but that’s still a rightward move.

I think Graham Platner, if you take his word for what is in his past and present political mindsets, would be an example of a right-to-left swing, but not done as a politician. Shaun on YouTube is another one that comes to mind potentially, depending on how old he is for whether that qualifies as an under age 25. In the US at least, we don’t really have a strong left wing to draw in people looking for a change, so most of those conversions are happening less in the public sphere and more in corners of the internet, where it hasn’t been enshittified to ensure even those spaces are dominated by tight wing narratives

That’s part of why I’m asking- the vast majority of leftists I know grew up in right wing or centrist circles and moved left on their own, but I don’t know if there are politicians who really reflect that.

Actually, Graham Platner is very relevant and I’m interested in whether people trust him enough to elect him and whether he stays true to the principles he ran on.

Elizabeth Warren was a Republican who thought people used bankruptcy as a means of escaping personal liability.

Warren later recalled that she had begun her research believing that most people filing for bankruptcy were either working the system or had been irresponsible in incurring debts, but that she concluded that such abuse was in fact rare and that the legal framework for bankruptcy was poorly designed, describing the way the research challenged her fundamental beliefs as “worse than disillusionment” and “like being shocked at a deep-down level”.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Warren

It was after that Elizabeth Warren moved to become more progressive about how bankruptcy laws and financial regulations.

Widely regarded as a progressive, she was previously a registered Republican, changing her registration to Democrat in 1996. According to Warren, in the six presidential elections she voted in before 1996, she cast her ballot for just one GOP nominee—Gerald Ford in 1976. Her conservatism at the time was not rooted in social issues like abortion or gay rights, but rather on economic policy.

I just learned today that Hitler was a lefty in his early days. True story.

He was always anti-Semitic though. That wasn’t unusual for the times however.

You’d be looking at some early 20th century interpretations of leftism though, which is an important nuance. Lenin was a member of the Russian Social Democrats, but most people probably wouldn’t attribute his legacy to Social Democracy.

Dude, you can’t be satisfied by bites of moral superiority, it isn’t useful to you. Class solidarity doesn’t mean that they have solidarity with you because they strive for unity or whatever, it means that they have solidarity with people in the same socioeconomic class as themselves. Yes, they are self-interested and they exclude people who are not in their class from positions of power within the state. They correctly identify that most Americans have been neglected functional knowledge on how their system works – both literally as in the state and philosophically/sociologically as in how ideas work and why certain people subscribe to certain values – and make use of a “two-party” system to occlude their common interest in capital and hegemony. Democrats and Republicans do not differ on fundamental principles of how society should work, and they share those principles with anyone alive who hoards wealth because they all are in a class that is constructed through wealth hoarding, that’s the solidarity.

That someone can work for either party without missing a step demonstrates that there is not a fundamental difference between the two in a very funny way.

“I have a very hard time believing that the 42 million people who are on SNAP all qualify,” Li said, speaking on Newsmax. “Someone on Newsmax said last night [that] maybe people should start making better choices so they don’t have to rely on the government day in and day out. What happened to personal responsibility? It used to be an American ideal!”

“We have to be very clear what’s happening here: they built a dependency empire, and it is crumbling right now! And President Trump isn’t starving kids – he’s starving socialist beasts,” Li said.

“He’s starving the handouts for millions of illegal aliens; why are we putting them first when we have so many Americans – millions of Americans – suffering on the streets? Why are we prioritizing illegals? That is a question that Democrats need to answer.”

Yeah, but you often find the people who need the help are least inclined to vote for it.

I remember a story from a few years ago, some article about poverty. A disabled guy from Liverpool, unable to work, his 12 year old daughter was having to collect from the food bank for him, no heating. “I voted for the Conservatives, I just think they’re best for the country”, he said, presumably while applying his clown make-up.
