No system will long survive players acting in bad faith. There’s no system you can come up with that is immune to conservatives and capitalists fucking with it. It might take them years, but they will never stop. They are the worst people on earth. If you could thanos-snap away conservatives, the world would become a better place overnight. Every problem we’re facing is either their fault, or made worse by them.
And we’re never going to get rid of conservatives. There are always going to be shitty humans who believe their in-group needs to be protected and the out-group needs to be bound. Shitty, scared, little shit bags that will blame brown people or queers or whatever, anything, so they can think down familiar paths and avoid any hard introspection.
So I don’t know. You don’t stop building a home because the elements are always trying to tear it down. But you can’t punch the wind in the fucking throat so hard they cry and vomit at the same time, so maybe it’s not quite the same as a maga hat.

I just want us to agree that those 30% of men or whatever are trash. Because they are trash. Trash that votes, but still trash.

Since I don’t routinely hang around with stupid people, it’s easy to forget how profoundly stupid so many people are. Not just that they don’t know stuff, even though that’s a big factor as well. Just their ability to reason is toddler level. Like patrick in that meme with the wallet.
It’s also “No one tells me what to do. I tell you what to do.”
Not every law is just or sensible. “It’s illegal” is a far weaker claim than “it’s morally wrong” or similar. People conflate the two.
I remember a bunch of coworkers leaving during COVID and I was like “ok but what’re you going to do after? It’s fucking boring where you’re moving to.”

The conversation stalls. The liar has “won” the argument. Not in the sense that he is factually correct; he is not. But he has won in two senses. First, he has shut down what might have been a rational, interesting, spirited debate that proceeded from shared factual premises. Second, he has forced the other three to waste time and mental energy debating a proposition that is not remotely up for debate, and in the process has succeeded in making himself the center of attention and controversy whom everyone else talks about.
Sounds like they should remove the liar from the bar. Maybe not beat the shit out of him and leave him in a sobbing pile of piss and vomit in the back alleyway, but certainly not just letting it slide.

Someone in my extended friend group got a divorce, and her ex-husband started acting like a creeper. He was bothering the other women in the group. Eventually, another dude in the group pulled him aside and said if he doesn’t behave, he can’t hang out with them anymore. The guy didn’t change, and now he’s out of the friend group.
