This is what happened with Chicago. It feels like he forgot and just pushed it through without talking to his subordinates. He’s used to being the boss of a company. I had an elderly boss before who would do stuff like that. He would come in, say we’re doing something, something that he tried before but didn’t work. The VP and other management had no idea. Once they found out it took a couple of days to talk him down and bring him back to reality.
These people spend like 30-40 years having their thoughts immediately acted upon by others. They’re not used to slowing down and being critical. Once they get old they really lose it and don’t/can’t consider that they don’t have the magic touch anymore.

If you go take a look at the live camera feeds or recent drive-around footage of Portland, everything looks normal, there’s literally nothing going on right now that would warrant even a fraction of that response. Protesting is basically non-existent right now, much less “war-ravaged” rioting.
“Since June 2025, more than two dozen people have been arrested in connection with protests”. That’s literally nothing, an average of around 1 person every 3 days. There’s plenty of small short protests where way more than that get arrested.
