I feel like perhaps your understanding may be coming from the opposite angle here (an angle I tried to understand myself before I realized I may have it backwards); I personally feel now as though the absolute worst human beings are the ones being elevated to positions of power because they’re ghouls. I recall reading/watching something about Allen Dulles who ran the CIA, and how he was hated as a monster even by his own wife; these people don’t become monsters, they ARE monsters and that’s what elevates them in their fields. If you were in charge of deciding who runs the CIA, would you pick a human being or an anthropomorphized gas chamber?

The far right are actually not ENTIRELY wrong when they claim that in the past they would have been conquerors or whatever; the part where they’re wrong however is that it takes effort and hard work back in the past to reach those positions and those lazy losers would’ve most likely have been little more than ambitious peasants who get a spear in the face by chuckling Spartans who’d agree with them otherwise (and also because flat out they’re born to the wrong class; today they say “We were born in the wrong era”, back then they would’ve said “We were born in the wrong class!”). The reason they don’t succeed today however is because successful war crime-ry benefits more from being intelligent and willing to delude yourself than the ability to do backbreaking, sweaty labor, which is why educated liberals who are willing to view the real world through the power of narrative and storytelling are of more value to companies that produce the latest in weapons technology. Some of the most progressive and open minded people (who also happen to be very educated) do their part to make the world a better place by working for powerful weapons companies and annihilating and robbing the global South, but it’s okay because they have the power of narratives and storytime on their side. Did they help make weapons that annihilate families? No! They made weapons that took out multiple suspected terrorists and a handful of casualties! Also it’s that country’s leadership that’s truly at fault for America’s unprovoked war of aggression and war crimes!

Those among the far right losers who do actually do hard work and train, and who are fortunate to have been born in powerful/rich families, provided they had all this in the past absolutely would’ve been among those committing the war crimes in history they love reading so much about, but then consequently, hilariously, the other far right losers they congregate with today would’ve been their chief victims in that time period; something they’re quick to forget is that in a hierarchical system, most of them would serve and be expected to do so without voice.

i sincerely think that at a certain level of power you aren’t allowed to even find out where the door is without mutually compromising material. I think it’s a big part of how foreign govts compromise our lawmakers and stuff, and i think that also happens domestically. in fact the two are the same thing kinda? like im not kidding, i do think it’s the same kind of reasoning that has skull & bones members cranking it in a coffin and telling each other dark secrets.
