i sincerely think that at a certain level of power you aren’t allowed to even find out where the door is without mutually compromising material. I think it’s a big part of how foreign govts compromise our lawmakers and stuff, and i think that also happens domestically. in fact the two are the same thing kinda? like im not kidding, i do think it’s the same kind of reasoning that has skull & bones members cranking it in a coffin and telling each other dark secrets. It’s mutual security through mutually assured destruction. everyone compromised stays in line, anybody who steps out is sacrificed to the proles, and the world keeps on turning towards destruction because there are not nearly enough people in places of power that are not themselves compromised
