Multiple people at Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall in Colorado were burned when they were attacked by a man during a march for Israeli hostages Sunday, according to police.
Witnesses at the scene told CBS Colorado that the suspect attacked people with Molotov cocktails who were participating in a walk to remember the Israeli hostages who remain in Gaza.
Run For Their Lives, which organized the walk, said, “This is not a protest; it is a peaceful walk to show solidarity with the hostages and their families, and a plea for their release.”
“So we stood up, lined up in front of the old Boulder courthouse, and I was actually on the far west side. And there was somebody there that I didn’t even notice, although he was making a lot of noise, but I’m just focused on my job of being quiet and getting lined up. And, from my point of view, all of a sudden, I felt the heat. It was a Molotov cocktail equivalent, a gas bomb in a glass jar, thrown. Av [another marcher] saw it, a big flame as high as a tree, and all I saw was someone on fire,” said Victor.
Video of the scene shows what appears to be a burn scar in front of the old courthouse and a person being taken away on a stretcher. Photos from a viewer show a shirtless man at the scene being detained by police.
FBI Director Kash Patel, in a statement, described the incident as a targeted terror attack and said agents were on the scene.
Redfearn, however, said it was too early to speculate about a motive. “We are not calling it a terror attack at this moment,” he said.
they’re genocide supporters, yes. A 10 year old with leukemia waving an israeli flag is also a genocide supporter. that doesn’t make them a strategically sound or particularly high-ranking assassination target
These incidents aren’t about strategically sound actions, they’re spontaneous acts of outrage against a genocide the Western world seems to have deemed no big deal. This is the price the rulers of the West have decided as acceptable to continue supporting genocide. These acts will continue, no doubt about it, and who are we to stay they should stop? May not be strategically sound, but can you honestly say it’s immoral to kill a supporter of an active genocode?
I am not saying its immoral, i’m saying its counterproductive-- precisely because everyone who isn’t an terminally online leftist thinks it’s immoral
Who gives a fuck about what the average american thinks? The average german in the 1930s has the same political views as the average american.
Trying to garner public support after 2 years of genocide is worthless.
"They are acting on their values with consistency and continuity. Committing massacres against innocent civilians does not trouble their conscience any more than you stepping on a bug troubles your conscience.
They don’t see anything to feel guilty about, they feel that they have done something good. You have to understand this because if you don’t you will severely and dangerously underestimate their danger, and you’ll make the fatal mistake of believing that you’ll ever appeal to their sense of morality, that you can ever appeal to their conscience.
And you make the catastrophic mistake of trusting them or trusting their intentions, and Wallahi there are tens of millions of their victims crying out from their graves telling you not to trust them. "

the average american is against israel. doesn’t mean they’re for attacking zionists. that’s the critical issue here.

And they’re saying “who cares”. We don’t control these actions, they’re spontaneous. Whether they are productive or counterproductive is irrelevant, they’re just a part of the background radiation of our society now. They are a symptom, and Americans really really love the cause and won’t let it go so here we are.
The crying over adventurism and optics is getting old. It’s going to happen either way. People are doing adventurism because they are rightfully frustrated at the open support of their own government, their own complicity by virtue of paying taxes if nothing else, and the lack of any other options, and no, some march or demonstration doesn’t count as an option.
I could still wish that they would pick better targets, like the Palestine Action groups in the UK, as part of the conversation even if I acknowledge things like this will happen. Target boats that send weapons, or MIC company buildings, or places high up personnel would be. But then these types tend to be a little unhinged, and impulsive, not really the “planner” type, so that’s probably a bit more beyond their field of vision than the local pro-Zionist walk.
The American public’s opinion re: the genocide is entirely irrelevant. There’s a far better chance that consistent stochastic terror acts against Zionists convinces the US elite to stop providing support to Israel than the opinions of the public. There’s no need for the USAmerican state to listen to the will of the public, and indeed they never have unless backed up with the promise of violence.
not sure how to square this with our narrative that genocide cost
enough votes to matter
I’m not saying the American public doesn’t care about the genocide. I’m saying even if 90% of the American public wanted the genocide to end it wouldn’t matter because those in power won’t stop supporting Israel. The United States isn’t a democracy in the sense that the government listens to the will of the public.
It doesn’t lol. The American left just runs with whatever narrative it feels comfortable with. Kamala losing because of her Zionism was just blatantly made up too. Very little if anything the American left thinks is rooted in the actual politics of the US proletariat and it leads to inconsistency and spontaneity.
the hardest part of being able to tell what happened in a US election and how it might have gone differently with different decisions is that nobody ever talks to people who didn’t vote but are amenable to voting in general.
Simple, it’s continuity of agenda. You think it wouldn’t have escalated to complete blockade and starvation if Harris had won?
Regardless, the genocide continues no matter how the election played out.
i dare say it would be worse under a biden part 2.
they didn’t even have the sense to lie to us about it, much less find a more reaganesque 🤮 figurehead who would make israel back down, and i think lying about being zionists or finding some non-zio neolib would’ve won. of course this is all assuming they wanted to win which they didn’t so
Because they further strain from understanding towards the aesthetics of revolutionary acts. Idealist thinking.
Is the genocide something that cost kamala votes or do americans not care at all and somehow won’t develop an aversion of people being randomly targeted (in their minds).
Because the elections are rigged to operate on razor thin margins. In that case a few voters here and there can interfere with their plans. It can’t meaningfully change anything but it can be slightly inconvenient
Disagree, look at their organization’s website. Those people are sick in the head and I hope their skin grafts hurt like hell
IMO you’re basicaly appealing to the same issue we’ve struggled since the very beginning, this is basicaly questioning the morality of killing the Romanov children. Multiple generations of communists and socialists have been here, discussed, some struggled with it, some didn’t, in the end its a line you decide which side you sit on.
You can invent any number of hypotheticals e.g is it moral to kill a fascist mother and a father which may leave a child orphan? We’re not sitting here crying about the ultimate German civilian death toll of WW2 exactly because we’ve accepted the ones ultimately responsible for creating that situation.
You’re right in a sense that our concept of justice is still very much tied to revenge and that can often lead to parallel lines to how everyone else feels about justice. Should every German civilian suffer the same pain and suffering the Nazi German government and army inflicted on the Soviet people? A huge number of people would say yes. I’m not sure socialists in general have a better concept of “justice” in of itself beyond just recognizing the best way to create a just world is to make it so we as a society don’t ever get to ask and make these choices.
I turned a lot to Norman Finkelstein since Oct 7th and he has compared Oct 7th to the Nat Turner rebellion as he does here
When he explains Oct 7th as being violent and horrible but why not condemn it he also explains if you ask at times in history a lot of horrible things happened and it pointless to deny it. I liked the way he handled the question. Of course this is not at all like Oct 7th, but you can put these “adventurism” incidents along the same line as a direct consequence of the genocide.
Are these people directly responsible? Maybe, maybe not. You can put any number of hypotheticals and say they’re all horrible but as he puts it best at the end there about what the message was, “we warned you, you keep trying to treat us this way that is what is going to happen to you”. Obviously we’re not Palestinians but the hopelessness that leads to adventurism as the only alternative is the same.
If the Zionists think they can hide behind social outrage and “morality” to avoid horrible acts of revenge or hopeless resistance, then they’re about to fuck around and find out. They’re are hypocrites, we already know this. Will it just make Zionists stronger? Perhaps but for sure pragmatism is not a convincing argument.

What are you talking about? They aren’t 10 year olds with leukemia they’re grown adults who should know better. They should have not supported fascism and genocide if they didn’t want to face the consequences. If there really was a 10 year old with leukemia waving around an israel flag, then the parents still should be held accountable for brainwashing their child with a hateful ideology.
I donno. Anti Isreal people need to hit at high ranking assassination targets while Isreal kills countless children and wipes out full bloodlines?
in our relative safety we should be more judicious with our targets, yeah probably.
all Palestinian violence against israel is justified but i wouldn’t romanov netanyahu’s minor grandchildren
