In explaining exactly why this is so bleak, Klippenstein references the dystopian science fiction movie Minority Report, where people are arrested not for anything they’ve done but for “pre-crime” predicted by people with psychic powers. In this real-world case, the “indicia” (indicators) of future political violence listed in the report are:

anti-Americanism,
anti-capitalism,
anti-Christianity,
support for the overthrow of the United States Government,
extremism on migration,
extremism on race,
extremism on gender
hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family,
hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on religion, and
hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on morality.

Good article and lots of points to discuss. But man, a Trotsky quote (albeit a good one) coupled with whining about “authoritarianism,” then this line:

Anyone who cares about living in a free society needs to reject the notion that certain ideological perspectives need to be monitored and contained, regardless of the nature of those perspectives. Even genuinely vile ideas need to be fought at the level of ideas.

Jacobin isn’t beating the western Marxism allegations

You’re in-line being marched into the death camp

The left-liberal your chained to is still on his ‘if only pepole had voted for Kamala this wouldn’t be happening’ smuglord shit

One of the guards overhears and shouts and you to be quiet or you’ll be first in line for the Tesla death pods

Your look over at the guard, and who do you see but…

    spoiler

The irony: left-wing structural analysis actually pushes people away from lone-wolf attacks and toward mass organizing for change.

That’s not really an irony. That’s just the sort of violence fascism fears. Lone wolves rarely amount to anything. Organized action is an actual show of power they have to worry about

This is probably more performative nonsense and won’t really change what’s already happening, but it makes me irrationally angry. The bastards want to kill us for having the gall to complain about them killing us. The planet’s gonna cook and the vulnerable will suffer and they’ll keep the fires going until someone finally stops them, all in the name of protecting an imagined feeling of superiority. One hopes that there are future historians and they’ll look back on this time as a profound dark age but I haven’t been optimistic about that in a while.

I used to be anti-Christianity, but I am more anti American Christian at this point. I am an atheist but the Bible pretty clearly says the typical American Christian is going to burn in hell forever which is a beautiful thing to believe in.

I hate this take. Evangelical Christianity is just as valid a read on the Bible than any other. Any read on the Bible that attempts to be ideologically consistent has literally no choice but to ignore the verses they don’t like.

Most world views have the same problem. You and I have probably just not realized all the things we are inconsistent about. Most of the time, when these things are pointed out to me, I try to consider them with an open mind. Yes, I do think the Christianity people find in the Bible will reflect their own views, and if those views are bad, the church will be bad. I sort of expect to see a resurgence of Christian Socialism as if people organize and left wing views become more common.

Same, it took me an embarrassing amount of time to chill out with Christianity as a whole, since I used to go to an American mega church as a kid.

Many of those listed things have been explicitly adjudicated as “free speech” by SCOTUS.

But good luck to him on arresting 70-80% of the population, I guess.

If there’s one thing I can count on these twitching, slavering fascists to do, it’s overplay their hand too early and piss off tons of people who might otherwise not have cared. A Kamala or Biden 2 regime would have just adopted some boring and convoluted technocratic framework for doing the same thing in a way that was hard to notice and harder to follow, continuing the salami tactics. These other nazis just can’t wait to jump the gun, and break into a sprint while frantically seig-heiling with both arms as soon as they lose patience. Our pool of potential allies who are now undeniably in the same boat as us dirty commies has practically doubled in size overnight.

Chuds kind of tried this tactic before, but the online left really needs to organize and get its shit together.

Next time you see a hog online, please just say “thank you for pushing people to the left.”
