  • I had to suffer to get to the allegations of the headline in this article but I think I’ve pieced together their word salad.

The article quotes Stacy Gilbert, a 20 year employee of the State Department who quit in May 2024. She does not say in the quote that the Whitehouse lied about ceasefire efforts, she said that they lied about whether or not US Weapons were linked to specific human rights violations and whether not aid was being disbursed.

The NSM-20 report, as it was called, stated not only that there was “insufficient evidence” linking U.S. arms to specific human rights violations but, even more alarmingly, that the State Department did not “currently assess that the Israeli government is prohibiting or otherwise restricting the transport or delivery of US humanitarian assistance” in Gaza.

Anyone paying attention at the time knew that this was a blatant lie. Gilbert told Hamakor that the report was “shocking in its mendacity,” adding: “Everyone knows that is not true.

That’s the closest thing cited as any sort of Biden Staffer calling out a white house lie. There was one other staffer quoted, Ilan Goldenberg, who criticized Netanyahu for dragging the war out and made it very clear that everyone else was aware of it, but that again does not include claims that the white house lied about pursuing a ceasefire.

Ilan Goldenberg held several advisory roles in the Biden administration, … He made it clear to Hamakor that the administration understood perfectly well that Netanyahu was dodging any effort at stopping the genocide in Gaza (though he would call it “the war”).

Goldenberg lamented the fact that any discussion about an endgame in Gaza was obfuscated by Netanyahu and ended without any results. “If they’re never going to do this, it doesn’t matter what the outcome is, Hamas is still going to control Gaza,” Goldenberg told Hamakor. “You’re just killing and destroying for the sake of killing and destroying. But you’re not building an alternative.”

The article also takes the time, far above that, to quote the Israeli military veteran and Israel appointed ambassador. That might be relevant information, but it’s certainly odd to place it front and center as if to attempt to mislead readers into thinking he spoke for the US or Biden.

It’s almost like the author doesn’t actually know the difference between Netanyahu and the White House? Like they think it’s the same people?

  • You’re correct that the warrant is the ICC jurisdiction and not any other courts in Germany. As of May of last year Steffen Hebestreit representing the Olaf Scholz administration said they would.

Scholz’s spokesman, Steffen Hebestreit, was asked on Wednesday if the German government would execute an ICC arrest order against Prime Minister Netanyahu for alleged war crimes during Swords of Iron.

Hebestreit said, “Of course. Yes, we abide by the law.”

And that comes after he had been a vocal advocate of Israel up to that point.
