The spokesperson claimed that Hamas unlawfully “exploits schools” for military activities by “building military networks beneath and within schools … launching attacks towards IDF forces from them, and imprisoning hostages in them”.
They think they can just say this like a Jedi mind trick and get away with it, and sadly it has worked with mainstream media.
Not a single dialysis patient is going to survive this genocide. They have no chance…
The idea that executive power needs to be checked by the legislative branch in order to push the country in a more pro-war direction, that the voting public absolutely does not want whether Republican or Democrat, is deeply ironic and perverse. I don’t think the Founding Fathers intended for this situation to appear. It’s sort of a ‘reductio ad absurdum’ of our political system.

Hamas’s draft reintroduces terms from a deal that Hamas said it made with Witkoff on May 25. Israel rejected that document and four days later, on May 29, Witkoff and Israel announced new terms, which would permit Israel to resume its genocidal war after 60 days and to keep its forces entrenched deep inside Gaza. It contained no guarantees for allowing the unrestricted flow of food, medicine, fuel and other life essentials to the Gaza Strip.
In a post on X Saturday, soon after he received Hamas’s response, Witkoff denounced Hamas’s draft. “It is totally unacceptable and only takes us backward. Hamas should accept the framework proposal we put forward as the basis for proximity talks, which we can begin immediately this coming week,” Witkoff wrote. “That is the only way we can close a 60-day ceasefire deal in the coming days… and in which we can have at the proximity talks substantive negotiations in good-faith to try to reach a permanent ceasefire.”
Senior Hamas official Basem Naim disputed Witkoff’s characterization. “We did not reject Mr. Witkoff’s proposal. We agreed with him on a proposal, which he deemed acceptable for negotiation. We then received the other party’s response (the Israelis) through Mr. Witkoff, which rejected all that we had agreed upon with him,” Naim told Drop Site. “Nevertheless, we responded positively and responsibly, responding to him in a manner that fulfilled the aspirations and demands of our people. Why is the Israeli response considered the only response for negotiation? This violates the integrity and fairness of mediation and constitutes a complete bias towards the other side.”

34·8 days agoHe is not anti-israel for any humanitarian reason, he only cynically uses anti-israel talking points to push antisemitic conspiracy theories.
I disagree. I think he’s sincere when he calls killing children evil, and that’s good. And I thought his interview with Munther Isaac was very important for breaking conservatives out of the “all Arabs are crazy Muslim and want to kill me” false belief, even if it did focus on the sufferings of the small minority of Palestinian Christians.
I don’t agree with everything he’s ever said or will say, he may say things I the future I have serious disagreements with. But I think the genocide in Gaza is the most pressing moral issue of our time, and am willing to build a big tent coalition to stop it and hold Israel responsible. I am also a big admirer of Hezbollah, who are very socially conservative, for what it’s worth.
It’s amazing how much money matters in elections.
