Why do they care so much? It’s bizarre.

      The government or the protesters?

Fair question. The government. People protest. Whether they do or not isn’t going to change the day of anyone in power there.

The government care because they crave power and holding on to it means they can’t become too unpopular. So trying to deter people from protesting and this becoming a bigger thing is their plan to maintain power while pandering to foreign powers.

The people protest because they understand they have power. Limited as it may be, sometimes you have to stand up for what’s right. Even in the face of adversity.

Plus we’re close enough to France to be, at least in part, inspired by them.

It does, thank you! That’s a lot of good people being persecuted.
