Piefed as a software was always hipster pop. People gravitated towards it because it was new, it’s not Lemmy and it tries to be everything. Some features are genuinely good and others aren’t implemented in Lemmy for logical reasons. Anyway, point is, the people that create pop tend to be superficial and not want to rock any boats. It’s unsurprising that he’d want to create a silo of confirmation bias. But I’m biased because I want my threadiverse experience to be full of people with differing opinions, stances and lifestyles.

That said, I also don’t think brigading helps, even when they’re baited. Inadvertently or not. Everyone’s own mental health should remain the priority.

This is why as a community, we should’ve never allowed things to centralise on LW in the first place.

Because you post without setting a language, I’m forced to see all of your posts, whether in English or French. I’m asking you to be a good citizen and set the language so I can filter out your French posts. Bear in mind you keep tagging the Lemmy community, !palestine@lemmy.ml I’m not sure where the confusion lies. If you’re unwilling to do so, just say that and then I’ll block you and move on.

To be fair, Ireland has been pretty open and consistent in its support for Palestine.

The government care because they crave power and holding on to it means they can’t become too unpopular. So trying to deter people from protesting and this becoming a bigger thing is their plan to maintain power while pandering to foreign powers.

The people protest because they understand they have power. Limited as it may be, sometimes you have to stand up for what’s right. Even in the face of adversity.

We’re talking about sexual assault here. When you censor and refer to it as SA, you’re minimising the gravitas of the crime. It’s very much a crime committed or at least sanctioned by a state. It’s manipulation. Hamas invited the UN to investigate accusations of them sexually assualting prisoners. On the other hand we’ve seen evidence of Israel sexually assaulting prisoners and there’s no action or sanction. This is allowed to happen because key words that we’re rightfully appalled by are initialised or censored, so we don’t see it as bad as it is.

But as I said, this is an issue that extends just beyond this particular incident.

It’s not the place for this but fuck social media and everyone that is more interested in pandering to algorithms than reporting the news. Fucking say sexual abuse. Why are you hiding it behind a fucking initialism.

Another day and more evidence of Israel committing war crimes comes to the fore. The nations of the world remain silent.

I would say when the rest of the world develops a conscience, but we know the Palestinians will be wiped out before then.
