Sorry for the Jerusalem Post archive article, but every article I’ve seen on this is taking the same line.
Fuck yeah! Campaigning for divestment is one of the most effective tools you can have at the local level against Israel. Tons of states, counties, and municipalities invest in Israel bonds. It is within your power to organize a campaign that takes away millions of dollars from the entity. My
branch won two such victories against large urban counties and is collaborating with orgs across my state to spread the experience on how to do so effectively. We held a divestment conference, and we’re also connecting it with fossil fuel divestment campaigns. It’s not even a BDS thing though. He’s divesting from Israeli bonds because their credit rating is in the toilet and he’s treating them like any other country.
Who cares? It’s money away from Israel and you can make it happen. Tons of places are doubling down despite the credit rating drop.
Who cares?
Well it is a fair comment to clarify what actually happened.
The way things usually go, if there was no campaigning, Israel gets a lower credit rating and local governments would be looking to give Israel more money just to support our greatest ally.
Sorry, sweetie, looks like we’re privatizing the local library so Israel can get more interceptors that don’t work!
Treating Israel like any other country is antisemitic, though.
That’s fun. Idk NYC is influential like some big public worker pension funds. Maybe they’ll start a trend.
It’s actually antisemitic not to invest in israel sweetie
Not ignoring Israel’s credit rating to give them free money from the taxpayers is BDS
Oh, so you think Israel just wants money and handouts?
Found Hitler, you guys. You’re welcome
Let’s see. Blind patriotism carry the “no, u” and divide by a straw man…
Yup I think you win the internet good sir
