There’s a shortage of the precursor chemicals used to make the lethal injections. I want to say our main source actually comes from Canada.

Also there is a shortage of the proper medical staff that know how to administer a lethal Injection.

Why now? Because conservatives love to go backwards.

    https://www.lawyerherald.com/articles/63079/20250611/death-row-inmate-facing-firing-squad-claims-riflemen-last-execution-missing-purpose-cause.htm

Did a South Carolina firing squad deliberately try to miss a man’s heart during an execution last month to prolong his death?

That’s what attorneys for Stephen Stanko, the next prisoner slated to die, contend.

    I mean, ugh.

We need to stop calling these fuckers conservatives. Conservative implies that you are maintaining the status quo. These bastards are straight-up regressives.

Conservative implies that you are maintaining the status quo.

No, Conservatism protects the unaccountable privilege of the upper class. That’s the only status quo they maintain. They’ll tear down anything else, no matter how long it’s existed. And it has been that way since the term “conservative” was coined. It was a reaction against Enlightenment ideas that rule of law should apply to everyone, and that those holding positions of power should be appointed by merit and held accountable to the people. It has always favored sinecures, nepotism, royally granted monopolies, bribery and obfuscated ownership.

The great British politician Tony Benn distilled five questions that should be asked of those in power in order to maintain a functioning democracy:

        • What power have you got?
        • Where did you get it from?
        • In whose interest do you exercise it?
        • To whom are you accountable?
        • How can we get rid of you?

You will notice that conservatives will always react aggressively when asked any of these questions.

The only genuine stance conservatives have is that society should be hierarchical. It’s financially driven by wealthy who want to be essentially an aristocratic class, and since that’s a bitch of a sell, they focus on who’s lower than the average person instead of who’s higher, but the legislative result is always the same, more for the capitalist class. Everything else is window dressing, distractions, and whatever concessions they feel obligated to make.

Conservatism has always been shit like this. The idea that it just means “maintaining the status quo” is a lie they tell to whitewash it.

“This savage terrorist deserves the harshest lawful punishment for his 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood,” Hegseth told several media outlets, including The Hill, at the time. “The victims and survivors deserve justice without delays.”

Because the prisoner is Muslim. They don’t refer to white supremacist mass shooters as ‘savage terrorists’.

I am opposed to the death penalty, but as far as methods go, firing squad seems more honest than lethal injection. It looks like killing rather than dressing it up like a medical procedure.

I’m against the death penalty, but obviously if it’s going to happen, the guillotine is the only acceptable method. Everything else is either unreliable, cruel, or both.

The guillotine looks less humane when we consider those executed looking around, blinking, and responding to external stimuli for a minute afterward.

None of that has ever passed any sort of testing. Even the longest theoretical is under 10 seconds, but most evidence points to the sudden loss of blood pressure leading to instant loss of consciousness, before it even hits the basket.

Of course, injection was also promised to be a merciful approach, so who knows.

It’s a message. Follow his orders or “get shot”. His hold on all of us right now is all bent on us being afraid enough to not do anything to him and his cult. That may change here very shortly thanks to the resistance in Spain, France, and Brazil.

Soon he will taste his own medicine.

I’d much rather throw him in prison.

And give him livestreams of things like his ballroom being ripped down, the pool being properly restored, all those tacky gold gewgaws that he glued to the walls of the WH scraped off, Biden’s picture restored instead of that bullshit about an “autopen” and the most unflattering picture of donnie put up there with a description of how he’s a rapist, a pedophile, a traitor and a war criminal, the Rose Garden restored, Obama’s picture put on the passports, currency with Hillary’s picture on it, the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario being restored on all maps, and on and on. Maybe fake feeds in some cases, others not. Concoct fake feeds about how Obama got 5 more Nobel Peace Prizes…

And he gets no other entertainment, and definitely no Internet access. No cameras on him, either.

Or we can move past the American Empire which has protected the Epstein class, and not just protected but bent over backwards for. Which has raped the world of its resources, poisoned its own citizens by way of greed, and enslaved the global south (but also the North too, just slightly less hard). We can move past a white supremacist, capital worshipping society intent of backing up its INCREDIBLY short sighted goals and obsession for the status quo, with the largest military the world has seen.

I can keep going, but I hope you get the point.

We can dream, explore, imagine, and wade through the muck of this dying and deadly system, to make something new that works for us all. We need to, it’s not an option. The return to “normalcy” that you paint out is far less intolerable for him (even in a jail cell), than it is for the working class, the dying species, the collapsing oceans, and the generations not born yet.

I don’t know about other people but I’m shooting for a world way past a return to imperial neoliberalism, which ironically wouldn’t even last long with the collapsing environment and societies around us.
