AP reports: “India fired missiles across the border into Pakistani-controlled territory in at least three locations early Wednesday, killing a child and wounding two other people, Pakistani security officials said. The missiles early Wednesday struck locations in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and in the country’s eastern Punjab province, according to three Pakistani security officials. One of them struck a mosque in the city of Bahawalpur in Punjab, where a child was killed, and a woman and man were injured, one official said.”

I know that this is an ongoing thing between these 2 countries, but it always makes me nervous when I remember that they both have a nuclear arsenal.

And they’ve had several hot wars since indepedence. Modhi is a Hindu nationalist leader so he’s going to stroke nationalistic themes when ever opportunities arise.

I get what you’re trying to say, and I agree too, I am anti-war, but all the wars between India and Pakistan were actually provoked by Pakistan. The Kargil War happened when both were nuclear armed in 1999, and nothing happened then. I doubt if anything will happen now either, apart from people dying. 8 civilians from Jammu died in retaliatory cross border firing, hopefully, it de-escalates after this. There was a similar situation in 2019, and war didn’t break out.

George Carlin called this… oh… 30 years ago?

    “Ancient hatreds and modern weapons.”

    https://en.m.wikiquote.org/wiki/George_Carlin

“Philosophers have wondered for centuries: Why are we here? And I say, I’m here to see the show. So, let’s get busy with these wars. I’m very disappointed in all these peace things that are going on. They’re really letting me down. You take ancient hatreds and modern weapons and you got a nice recipe for some entertaining stuff. […] I’m only being partly facetious. If you scratch any cynic, you’ll find a disappointed idealist.”

So it wasn’t an empty claim after all.

Jesus shit. I shouldn’t be surprised, since India is supporting Russia and so many seem to overlook that.

The Indian Embassy in Washington said in a statement that national security advisor Ajit Doval spoke with U.S. National Security Advisor and Secretary of State Marco Rubio after the strikes. The embassy said “India has credible leads, technical inputs, testimony of survivors” that point towards “the clear involvement of Pakistan-based terrorists in the attack.”

If you stand idly by when terror happens to you, you’ll end up like Ukraine. This is the world we live in.

Pakistan should know the far right Hindu in power are looking for any reason to escalate and they let the terror attack happen anyway.

They are “squabbling” about terrorists killing of innocent civilians. But you don’t need to worry about it, nobody you know is in danger. Please continue with your ingest-digest-excrete-repeat cycle.

Sad. Not the comment, you. Hopefully it has satisfied your appetite for sending misinformation.

I’m in the city that got bombed, Civilian center for hit. Civilians dead and wounded and it’s misinformation because you say so. Launching missiles across international borders sure feels like a terrorist attack.

Ya you are reading lemmy from a city that got bombed, very believable narrative.

Regardless, I agree with the point that civilians should never be attacked, no matter what side they are on, be it India or Pakistan.

Having said that. When the defence minister of Pakistan has openly accepted they harbour terrorists (go watch it on YouTube, an easy find) and the terrorists attack civilian tourists, shoots husbands in front of their wife and children, I’m sure your mouth won’t open to talk about it.

If your cited source is “an easy find,” you should link it. Spoiler: you won’t. Either that or it will be some bullshit

This is what I’m talking about, you can’t even acknowledge about the terror attack by Pakistan.

Lol I didn’t cite anything. It has been talked about by multiple media outlets already but since you can’t (won’t) find it, here is the sweaty defence minister’s original interview.

I know that this wont fix your illusionary denial of the facts and you’ll find some way to twist things to force yourself into your belief system. So I’ll rest my response here. Only you can save yourself from yourself my friend.
