All of the checks and balances depended on people in positions of authority and power putting up a meaningful resistance; not just the virtue signal of an oath.

45·3 days agoThis is a nothing-burger. As someone who watched far too much cable news in the 2000’s, this is obviously signal loss. It was a regular occurrence. I remember seeing interviews cut, and they never masked them with signal scrambling. They were very abrupt and clean.
It started to crap out when he mentioned Iran. He also presumably said “Israel is more than capable” (of handling Iran). Why would they cut him off when he’s promoting Israels military capability?

Not just affordable, but actually fixing the problems facing humanity, to give people hope for the future their children will have to live in.
How about housing security? How about actively improving the lives of citizens, and ensuring their children are better off than they are? Giving them something to hope for rather than corporate dictatorship and ecological collapse?
No developed economy offers any alternative atm. Acting as though fascist dystopia or gilead could be a solution “coz statistics” is legitimately insane; an insanity that is a symptom of the systemic failure.
