Yeah that tracks. “Caitlyn Jenner is a piece of shit” and “Caitlyn Jenner deserves to have the correct gender on her passport” aren’t mutually exclusive ideas. People treat this shit like it’s transactional, like gender identity etc are only valid if you’re a decent person.
Like. You can even have limited empathy for her specifically and maybe even a bit of schadenfreude without going all the way to “fuck you, it’s correct that you are misgendered because you specifically suck”. I won’t lose sleep over Caitlyn receiving the exact treatment she has advocated that trans people should receive… But it’s still wrong.
Edit: to take the most extreme analogy: you may not feel sorry for a kapo being pushed into the gas chamber but neither should you take pleasure in it. Even if you don’t care about the victim, Nazis carrying out their agenda is always bad.
