He told the Mayoral debate and some news networks that Israel can exist only if it is not a Jewish ethnostate. I don’t even think that his answer was good, but he may have been trying to say that he wants a 1-state solution with a secular state.

What I think is more important is that he says that he supports the BDS movement and he implied that his support of BDS will impact his decision making as Mayor. Support for BDS is much better than most US politicians. Over 30 states have laws against BDS. Support for BDS is huge.

I would have also accepted a cheeky deflection, such as reframing everything to point out how odd of a question that is for a city mayoral candidate. Just a little bit of reality check for those watching to remind them of the absurdity of it.
