    NYC Seattle Chicago Portland LA

Have all been shown to be fertile for left of liberal political victories. My understanding is that the Nevada DNC also has progressive leadership, so waiting to see if they can push for some wins on their end now that they have some power

Portland is iffy. Right now 4/12 city councillors are DSA members, but by no means revolutionary in their politics. They are slightly better than average libs. Portland’s DA was a progressive but got turfed out for a Republican “tough on crime” guy. Former progressive city council members have been literally framed by the police or just faced massive smear campaigns. The mayor is a trucking company CEO who’s trying to give extra money to the shitty police department that they didn’t even ask for while at the same time cutting the parks budget.

      Seattle

It’s been trending social fascist post-COVID, probably in part due to the CHOP/CHAZ kerfuffle. The head of the city council is a small business beer tyrant, the city attorney is a party-switching republican, and the mayor makes Gavin Newsom look like the patron saint of the unhoused. Socialist councilmember Kshama Sawant left to work on caste discrimination, so the council tends to bend to whatever the business lobbies are pushing.

My point was meant to be that Sawant did indeed win in the past, but I think if she were to run today it would be harder. Momentum seems to be on the side of the right at the moment.

Not a bad point but a counter point is that momentum always was and is against anyone left of liberal. It’s not like Sawant didn’t have an uphill battle against Amazon money

Honestly, if left of liberal politicians got into power in a state’s party democrat apparatus, they’d probably win just due to inertia (provided they aren’t sabotaged like the NV dems were, obviously). Chuds will call them communists, but they’ve been doing that for decades so I have to imagine it doesn’t work on the average person anymore.
