    There’s no way a KC-135 is only worth less than half of a 737, idc what google says. Many had had their powerplants upgraded to CFM56s which are mega money (5-7 million each x4), not to mention avionics upgrades.

    People should also take into account the annual cost of maintenance / investments which for the entire kc-135 fleet was 2.2 Billion in 2001!

    Additionally, being privy to how inefficient U.S aerospace is, I can almost guarantee that every moderately damaged aircraft you see is just scrapped. There’s no way that Chinook that had it’s cockpit, front rotor and forward gearbox blown out will ever touch a cloud again. It will be cannibalized and scrapped or donated to a school.

    Never underestimate how much shit the U.S is eating or how much money the military wastes. You don’t become one of the top 3 contributors to climate change by recycling and making smart decisions.
