I have to wonder how much of this is imposed on Germany by the USA/NATO security state, from the top-down. After WWII, the US was the one who had Germany pay reparations to Israel on behalf of all Jews, a huge moral miscalculation especially in the wake of the Nakba.

Well, Germany does have an historical affinity for fascist violence, so, yeah.
