• Another thing I’ve heard from Vets, their “badassery” is a bit overblown. Apparently, willingness to go on suicide missions the the main factor in determining if someone is a good SpecOps recruit, not actual ability to carry out the mission. Their actual combat skill isn’t that much better than a regular soldier, it’s just they’re willing to do the shock trooper ass shit that actual GIs will hesitate at.

      I’d guess it would probably be an equipment thing too. When you’ve got a smaller group to equip you can throw more money at it. So normal soldiers get the standard issue stuff and those guys probably get all the fancy toys.
