I mean cigs, weed, and alcohol are pretty common where i am too. But ya i don’t have much of a social life. My owm mother actually tried to convince me i should drink when i was 18-21 but once i turned 21 and still refused to she gave up lol.
I’d guess it would probably be an equipment thing too. When you’ve got a smaller group to equip you can throw more money at it. So normal soldiers get the standard issue stuff and those guys probably get all the fancy toys.
That is honestly scary. People with that mentality with that skillset.
