That is not true. NATO is a multilateral agreement. There is currently a bill in both the US House and Senate which if passed and signed into law would remove the US from NATO. But if that were to happen, NATO would continue with the remaining signatories.

America has aligned with Russia, and by extension China, North Korea, and even Iran, against it’s old NATO allies Canada, Europe, and Japan and South Korea. The rest of NATO must respond or the aligned democracies will be separated and destroyed one by one.
