This is not how SCOTUS decisions are handled. State legislatures passing resolutions (Oklahoma did this, too, right?) shouldn’t be relevant to the Court at all. Of course, Thomas may well pen a response outlining exactly what fascists would need to do to get a winning case before the Court, as a treat.

Anyway, while this is painfully stupid, and certainly a test balloon, this carries zero weight whatsoever. We are in bizzaroland, though, so who knows.

Ford CFO Sherry House told reporters that it expects US car prices to edge up 1% to 1.5% in the second half of 2025 as a result of tariffs on both imported cars and auto parts. The announcement came as part of Ford’s first-quarter earnings report, which showed a sharp drop in profits.

But today:

Prices on the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV, Maverick pickup and Bronco Sport will increase by as much as $2,000 on some models, according to a notice sent to dealers reviewed by Reuters.

In case you were wondering, 1.5% of the ~$30K price of a Maverick is $450. $2000 is ~6.7% of $30K. Ford understated their tariff-induced price hike by more than four times.

I have to refer to this podcast, which is brilliant, and puts the ill-fated journey of Titanic in terms I hadn’t heard before. There were so many things that went just the right (wrong) way, and it’s pretty clear that up until the point of impact, nobody did anything wrong, considering the conventional wisdom of the time.

I don’t see the issue. If you’re shitty at one job, why not be shitty at four jobs? It’s not like those roles were gonna get filled by anyone who’s any less shitty.
