my inner cynic believes that 50 years from now, only intellectuals and historians will remember that this happened while the liberal and conservative majorites of the united states and europe will label people who care as “trouble makers” for trying to make everyone else aware of it.
You are correct to worry that. It’s going to be a struggle of intellectual resistance to even prevent them from inverting the victims and perpetrators in the public mind - they’re going to say that Palestinians tried to genocide the Israelis.
once it becomes nothing more than an intellectual pursuit, it won’t matter like the it doesn’t in the united states with the native americans, canada with the first nations, and australia with the aboriginals.
it feels like we’re watching history repeat itself, but this time we’re witnessing the testimonies of people being killed real time and by the same hegemony that successfully executed that last wave of mass genocide and ethnic cleansing.
That is powerful footage. Obviously they wouldn’t be there if they didn’t need to, with the bullets pounding around them, so the idea that this footage is of people desperate for food and water rings true, and makes this even more monstrous. How can people be so cruel?
