To me it means god is entirely fictional, and this regular guy wisely seeks treatment for his cancer based on scientific evidence.

But I may be reading too much into it…

I get what you’re saying, but this is a strawman argument.

Nobody claims that the pope gets special treatment, or is immune from health problems. Every pope dies and every pope is replaced, that’s the whole point.

There’s plenty to criticize about the church, no need to make up fake claims.

Idk man, when a pope gets cancer that sounds like a bad omen.

And then accepting modern treatments? That shows a lack of faith. God wouldn’t have given you cancer if he wanted you to get rid of it.

I think that’s the Christian Scientists, they used to have one of their reading rooms in a strip mall near me in the 80’s

This argument won’t change anyone’s mind. It’s just making up nonsense about other people.

The Catholic Church has its problems, but rejecting science and medicine isn’t one of them.

Well, from the Popes point of view it’s an interesting opportunity at a chance to be promoted up the corporate ladder.
