Secession is not a democratic right, especially one that is astroturfed by Russia. You cry foul regarding CIA involvement in Maidan but again show your hypocrisy with crickets regarding Russia doing the same in the Donbass.
I also don’t think you understand the word “coup”. A coup is a top down takeover, Maidan was a popular uprising, the biggest day had somewhere between 400,000-1 million people present depending on the source. Yanukovic ran away like a coward.
Censorship in Russia is not nearly as bad as in Ukraine, as in THERE IS an opposition media. It exists. It’s just that no one cares. Look it up.
In your opinion, I strongly disagree. Russia has controlled opposition media, not the same thing as opposition media. They also ban foreign media.
RT was banned when Russia started their stupid failing war because it is just Russian state propaganda.
Putin is popular in opinion polls, a combination of fear, total state control of media and orcs being orcs.
Russia’s human index, which includes human rights, has done nothing but go up since the plummet following Perestroika. Look it up.
I did, Russia’s human rights index is dogshit and has been going down in recent years since the war started. They sit at the same level as north Korea currently, good company!
I’ve just shown you they are not, you live in fantasy land buddy, your indoctrination is no match for my education. Why do you love Putin so much, the chap is clearly a loser who has spent the last 5 years destroying his own army, once thought no. 2 in the world, failing to take over the poorest, most corrupt country in Europe. What is with people these days celebrating failure?
Saying anyone who went to Maidan wanted Svoboda in charge is intellectually dishonest.
If it was so popular in a nation of 44 MILLION then Yanukovych would have lost the next election, and maybe he would have, but he didn’t get the chance.
Governments are decided in the polls, not in the streets.
That’s the difference between fascists storming the capitol Jan6 style and democratic elections in the Donbass. Any legitimacy to Ukrainian unity disappeared that day.
We have a drastically different idea as to what democracy means, apparently.
And the idea of politicians being cowards because the fled a fascist mob is kinda undermining yourself as democratic.
What happened to elected representatives who stayed and tried to participate in the coup government?
I really think you’re alarmingly uninformed, misinformed, and disinformed.
I’ve spoken to a few of your types before who are of the mistaken belief that if you vote in a government, the government then has a divine right to finish their term. If the government is not performing economically or in the case of Yanukovic, reneging on election promises the people can protest and demand the government steps down and new elections are held. Yanukovic decided to try and cling to power despite clearly losing his mandate and then ran to Russia when this was no longer possible.

You think elections carried out in a war zone with polling stations surrounded by armed Russians are legitimate? Only 2 other nations in the world, Syria and north Korea, the rest of the world agrees with me that your statement is ridiculous, not even China backs that one.

Clearly

Please explain to me how this statement makes any sense? Not getting how the two are linked, must make sense under your idea of democracy…
What happened to elected representatives who stayed and tried to participate in the coup government?
I thought we established in my previous comment that what happened in Ukraine does not fulfill the definition of a coup. You are dogmatic in sticking to your script anyway. Weird coup where we have had several elections with different winners for president and parliament, with peaceful transfers of power since. How many different people and parties have been in charge of Russia since the year 2000?
You live in dreamland buddy, your worldview is pathetic and doesn’t stand up to the tiniest degree of scrutiny. I get that is all you have so you cling to it but does it not get tiring. You guys remind me of flat earthers.
The campaign promise was for a better trade deal. Russia offered an even better trade deal, objectively. No one argued it wasn’t. He would have been a traitor not to take a better deal.
And he did offer early elections, but the coup was led by Svoboda. Svoboda are Nazis. They’d never win an election, never have.
Getting worked up with me about you supporting Nazis is rich.
No, the campaign promise was for closer ties with the EU, following the path to integration. He spent years negotiating the deal on to u turn days before signing. No one believed the Russian deal was better for Ukraine in the long term. The people of Ukraine did not want short term gains and we’re pissed, hence all the protests.
Still not a coup, don’t know why you’re still banging that drum.
I don’t know why you think I am getting worked up, you must be softer than the Russian armies front lines. Russia has had an awful 2026 on the battlefield, I don’t think anyone with any sense can see a path to victory for Russia at this stage. Enjoy the long slide to irrelevance as a Chinese client state, Russia really has sold its future a little slice of Ukraine. Ridiculous!
