It does look like the twin towers a bit, but that makes sense too. If you wanted an iconic building for your iconoclastic card art, what else would you have picked in the 90s? It’s hardly as if nobody had ever threatened the twin towers up until then either.

I grew up reading the books it’s based on, it’s all deeply unserious Discordian/SubGenius ironic bullshit awash in the cultic milieu of 20th century American conspiracy, the paranormal, and the occult. They were just aping Diogenes ultimately, but it was very compelling bullshit.
