The explosion occurred due a “rupture of a tank containing white liquor”, the company said in a statement. White liquor is a highly corrosive chemical used in the paper-making process
White liquor is an alkaline chemical containing sodium hydroxide and sodium sulfide.
At least one person has been killed. Nine others are still missing. A further nine people have been injured in the spill, including 8 employees and one firefighter, the Longview Fire Department said Tuesday evening, adding that the tank remains unstable
Can any chemist person confirm? - it Sounds a lot like Piranha Solution
CW Meat - Nile Red dissolving a chicken drumstick to carbon in Piranha Solution
my first thought when I read ‘white liquor’ was un-aged hooch. I looked up what white liquor is, and that shit is sooooooo caustic. 13.5-14 ph. JFC. It is classified as corrosive hazardous waste, above 12.5 ph. It will break down fats and protein in human flesh. It will eat through aluminum and galvanized steel.
I wonder if they are going douse it in hydrochloric acid and turn the site into a science fair volcano.
Doesn’t have much to do with piranha solution appart from that both will 🫠 you.
