I got a weird random downvote for some reason? I feel like I have been getting at least one for some time now.

Anyways, yeah, the way you see Romani being talked about in European circles would make you mistake them for neo-Nazi circles, but they range from blatantly fascist to supposedly progressive circles! It is so strange how people that claim to progressive have regressively chauvinistic beliefs.

Not sure, about the downvote, though usually I just ignore it when I get them unless there’s a few (then I view it as a way to reflect).

Romania have been persecuted so heavily and in such a ubiquitous manner that I really have no idea where to start with addressing bigotry towards them. I would like to know European comrades strategies for combatting that bigotry becuase it’s really disheartening.

For Islamophobia, I’ve found that constant education and contextualization is helpful but I’ve not seen that work with regards to Romani bigotry. It’s also quite strange to anyone outside the context of Europe. My mother for example has no idea why Europeans despise them so much, and many white Americans I’ve met also share a similiar level of confusion.

I am not European, but you could point out how anti-Romani sentiment generally seems to border on fascist levels of dehumanization and seems to justify genociding them (ignore them when they try to put on a “righteous civilized person” act because they are just being racist in a backwards way), and compare it to how Jews were once seen as people who would take over the world. Also, keep pointing out the bigotry, because consistently pointing out the racist undertones of their rhetoric will convince some that maybe they should not believe in fascist rhetoric.
