A 14-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly swinging and kicking a baby alligator at the Stetson Aquatic Center in Florida on April 3. He was booked into the Volusia Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Resource Center and faces a felony charge for harming wildlife.

    14 years isn’t “just started”. And abusing animals at that age is a giant red flag. The US justice system will probably go overboard, but there should definitely be consequence for that behaviour at that age.

        That depends on jurisdiction. In Germany 14 is the age of consent as well as criminal liability.

            Not sure, but looking at some images they seem pretty small and toothless, so probably not a major threat to a teenage human.

            Then you should get a law that allows the striking of juvenile offences from the permanent record.

            Yes, I assume he’s getting charged with animal abuse and not assault, so that is already accounted for.

                But you aren’t allowed to kill animals however you like, there are a lot of laws that regulate how you’re allowed to kill them. (Though, enforcement is often lacking.)

                  Because nobody really cares, and animals dont have souls, they were created to reproduce and be consumed by humans

                  Its inhumane to abuse animals, but I dont think it should be punishable by law, and especially not on paper like a record

                  And maybe, just maybe it was him releasing steam which is better on an animal than human

                    Well, neither do humans, but we care about those for the most part. Also many people care quite a lot about their pets.

                    Well, I very much think it should be. Guess we just disagree on that point. Though I do agree there should be a mechanism to clear juvenile records of people are rehabilitated/don’t re-offend.

                    Well, maybe next time he should try a tree or something.
