Dismantling a intertwined global system that has been built in the last 80 years can’t be done in an afternoon.
I hate the US as much as the other people here, I want to get rid of them and their influence on us as much as the next guy, but its completely unrealistic to do it suddenly and in a speedy manner. Its a deep swamp and we are up to our necks in it, we need to dig ourselves out carefully so we dont sink deeper.
Are any such steps being taken? I’ll be pleasantly surprised if this translates to action, but we’ve spent the last 30+ years using europe like this, so I’m skeptical if trajectory is just now going to reverse.
Yes. Theres all kinds of stuff happening, from EU based credit card/banking providers and digital payment systems to bringing industry back, supporting existing EU industry, streamlining the establishment of new companies, moving from US based service providers to EU based ones etc. Theres a whole bunch of new trade deals with not-USA countries already made and being made, in order to diversify trade so its not so reliant on the US.
On top of that, several EU countries have closed their airspace to US planes used for the Iran war, France has made a deal with Iran behind America’s back to open the Strait of Hormuz to French ships, Germany is in the process of re-arming and has re-introduced the draft…
What are they gonna do about it?
