I don’t know about this timing, air defence equipment is still being flown out of Fort Hood in Texas at this very minute. The cold front over large parts of the US earlier this week has really delayed the planning in this regard, aircraft were unable to land at Fort Hood for days, I think that the US will at least wait another week.
The US has global strike capabilities with cruise missiles launched from bombers, submarines and ships and can strike anywhere at any time, but it looks like they want to do an air campaign that involves flying into Iranian airspace instead, and that requires tactical fighter aircraft to be based close enough, and air defences to protect their bases. Plans can always change though.
