Actually, no. The NSDAP emptied and closed the psychiatric wards by killing “unworthy lives”, so they did not have the opportunity to use them against political enemies. The Soviets did this a lot, though - not accepting the “scientifically proven reality of Marxism” was often considered to be paranoid.

Some senator proposed a bill that would make Trump Derangement Syndrome a mental illness - from there it’s only a small step to apply it to gun regulation.
And they are declaring everyone actively opposing them “domestic terrorist”. Domestic terrorism qualifies as a qun restriction, too. They will propably soon throw in an affirmation of Trumpism as proof of reliability, too.
