Germany’s anti-hate speech laws consistently target anti-Zionist Jews. I wonder if Australia’s will be used the same way.

Eh, it’s unlikely. It’s geared towards statements about race. So the critics of Israel would have to be yelling about jews a lot.

it was passed in response to the Bondi Beach killing, which Israel-lobby captured Austrailian officials blamed on pro-Palestine rhetoric. Its purpose is to crack down on that rhetoric. You are either lying or clueless.

The Racial Vilification section didn’t pass. Only the hate groups section and the gun control sections did.

ASIO are only currently looking at classing two groups as hate groups (groups who have incited or promoted racial violence) - the Neo Nazis, and Hizb ut-Tahrir.

The bill discusses RACIAL VILIFICATION and the courts have already ruled that criticism of Israel is NOT antisemitic.

the court also ruled criticism of Israel, Zionism and the Israel Defense Forces are not antisemitic and therefore do not breach the law.

So yeah, my original statement is correct, in line with what passed, and well evidenced. It’s not just a gut feeling from spooked leftists, who if push came to shove would back the Nazis apparently.

          You are totally untrustworthy.

ASIO are only currently looking at classing two groups as hate groups (groups who have incited or promoted racial violence) - the Neo Nazis, and Hizb ut-Tahrir.

These are test cases. Enforcement obviously wont be limited to those two, it will be up to whoever has the power to designate hate groups and that more than likely will be given to a Zionist, otherwise they wouldn’t have pushed for the bill to be passed. It’s a Zionist bill.

We have just seen how the non-violent resistance group Palestine Action was jailed in Britain. The purpose of the bill is clear: to do the same thing in Australia.

The article you linked to says that the ruling that criticism of Israel is not antisemitic preceded a government policy change enshrining the IHRA definition of antisemitism, which includes criticism of Israel. So Australia’s policy has changed.

And anyways the Israel lobby needs to be discussed as well. Would talking about AIPAC count as “yelling about Jews” to you? I certainly wouldn’t trust you.

The government never enshrined the IHRA definition into law. Ya cooker.

If you’re gonna lie at least do it credibly. Anyways, let me know when you get some sources.

Yeah I don’t I don’t like when people say something’s unlikely when it comes to exploiting a law to oppress people and silence critics. Because you know we have all that pesky human history to tell us that it is actually extremely likely and what almost always happens.

If ASIO were to class some non-racist pro-palestinian group a hate group, that would be taken to the high court, most like for free by a barrister looking to further their career (big cases like this is how we get KCs).

Assuming they didn’t incidte or promote racial violence, they would get a massive winfall.

Oh my God as someone who’s actually been in a lawsuit I cannot explain to you how Furious your comment just made me. You have no fucking idea what you’re talking about. You have no concept what a nightmare it is just to be involved in a lawsuit.

That innocent people should have to suffer just because you can’t be bothered to have laws that aren’t racist is astounding.

Right right the old - the laws against hate groups inciting or promoting racism - are actually racist laws…

…with a twist of “the high court is rigged and will just back whatever ASIO says regardless of the facts/legal system”.

I forgot I was talking to a cooker, sorry.
