Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, said officers had not used pepper spray and similar measures limited by a judge’s order, then was confronted with a video that showed chemical agents deployed.

I’m of hearing multiple examples of legal observers being sprayed, as well as being shown their home address and threatened with arrest for merely bearing witness.

The number of House Democrats signed up to impeach her was 97 as of Friday evening

Edit: there is now video of them continuing to pepper spray legal observers after the court order

So they’re cowards. If they can’t fulfill their duty, they should step the fuck down. Just because there are more ICE agents doesn’t mean anything. If someone obstructs, arrest them too. It’s very simple and ACAB and this is further evidence to support that.

Yes, most cops are cowards. They’re very uninterested in taking risks for the community, and would rather posture instead.

I mean… What’s the hope with this comment? Would you really feel better if all the police forces in your area disbanded?

What are you going to do then?

So your first argument is that police can only enforce laws if they have more force, not because the state/government delegated them to do it? Surreal

It’s not “if they have more force” but in a practical sense, its actually risky, and cops are incredibly wimpy

BIL is a deputy and refuses to work on patrol, only works the courts because the streets are too scary… asked him if maybe he should pick a different job if he’s that afraid. “The pension and benefits are too good”

Yup, that’s how you get cops who can’t even fathom what “de-escalation” means

You’re right, but I feel like we should have a better standard for who’s allowed to be a cop in general for a lot of reasons.

Court room cop seems like a gravy ass fucking job though.

He’s not wrong about the benefits. I don’t know any other jobs that have pensions or benefits like cops. And they retire young too.

First cops can’t enforce the symbolic order because they don’t have overwhelming power. Then the judges are afraid to make a resolution that no one would enforce either way.
