Not only does violence happen on base, lots of bases tell their members not to stop for gas or anything within a couple miles of base due to the rampant poverty and resulting crime immediately outside of a base.
They’re moving onto bases so protestors can’t bother them.
But it’s just as likely to end up with military members protesting them. And that won’t start with a handful, one day 100s or even 1000s will show up. Even junior enlisted understand numerical advantages and if enough do it, they can’t punish everyone.
They’re gonna push boots on the ground into a corner, and act shocked when they do what they’re trained to do, and what they pledged an oath to do
It would be WILD if these yokels were just straight up murdered by the people on the base. They move there to get away from violence and it turns out, the military didn’t like them much.
But in addition to the shit we hear about, their presence on the base is likely causing a lot of bullshit in the day to day life of military members, and eventually we might see a uniformed protest. If it does come to that, it won’t start slow like a civilian protest. One day so many people will just show up that the Military Police literally can’t arrest them all.
And MPs won’t escalate force like civvie cops, because every MP is painfully aware how out numbered they are, and are likely even more fed up than the tank and file.
