Independent lawmaker Catherine Connolly has been elected the 10th President of Ireland in an overwhelming landslide, securing over 63 percent of the first-preference vote.
While the presidency is a largely ceremonial role, Connolly’s victory is immediately set to intensify diplomatic strain between Ireland and ‘Israel’ due to her history of strident anti-‘Israel’ rhetoric, which became a focal point of her far-left campaign.
it’s as if ranked voting makes for better outcomes
Pretty much any established voting system is better than first past the post.
I’d even consider sortition to be better, in the current situation. At least it avoids the wealth filter.
The whole country of Ireland had rank choice??
Ireland uses STV at local and national levels source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_transferable_vote

How left is "far left?”
Not actually far. Only far when compared to the “social democratic” but actually right wing neoliberal parties in Europe

@geneva_convenience Why is Israel wrapped in single quote in your post? Is there a specific meaning?
There is no such thing as a “far-left.”
There is also no such thing as a “leftist” lawmaker.
