The Israeli military had said they targeted a Hamas camera in an August strike, but a Reuters investigation found the device actually belonged to the news agency. An Israeli military official now says troops fired without required approval. Five journalists died in the attack. Their deaths are among some 200 journalist killings by Israel that it has yet to fully explain.

The article has a lot of good information and it is quite long. It also talks about other times that Israel has targeted and killed journalists.

However, the tone of the article feels absurd. It feels like Reuters is still interpreting Israel in good faith. Israel said that Reuters camera is Hamas. Reuters knows that it was their own camera. They should say that Israel is lying. Say that Israel is doing misinformation. Say that Israel is intentionally targeting journalists. They killed your own journalists and called your journalists “Hamas”.

“If they had warned us, we would have prevented this catastrophe,” Saqer told Reuters over text message. Reuters also never received a warning of the attack, according to the Reuters spokesperson.

This quote is highlighted in the article and entirely too charitable to Israel. It is pretty obvious that Israel did not warn Reuters because Reuters was the target intentionally.
