I’m not OP, but from the timeline it seems legit.
Timeline:
- OP posts comment
- Mod removes comment with no reason
- Mod post the exact same comment that was removed
- OP complains and shows a screenshot.

Edit: User says there was a reason-
My comment was similar to Stupes.
The reason for it being deleted was the same as his reply to Stupe
That means the mod removed the post because it was similar to an entirely different user and then posts the same thing as the user’s comment that was removed, 15 minutes later.
I don’t understand the why of this? I’ve seen him be great, what is the point of all this.
EDIT 2: This seems to be my mistake or OP was fibbing. Regardless, still a little weird, but feel free to go after me if you feel necessary. I apologize for the drama.
No idea what this is all about, but received is spelt incorrectly.
This is so dumb I want to chalk it up to a mistake but I can’t think of how it could be. Puzzling. Will give @jordanlund@lemmy.world a chance to explain before casting judgement.
Edit: I believe this is a misunderstanding of the situation. Here’s the original comment, which was not identical to the one Jordan then posted. It may have been removed by mistake. I’m guessing they hit remove instead of reply which is why the comment showed up as the reason for removal.
Always post the modlog folks!
Yeah, not sure what happened there. I saw two users making the same comment, replied to one then was in the process of copy/pasting the reply to the other and the comment had already been removed.
I figured “🤷♂️ I guess they saw the other comment and removed it” and went on with my day. Wasn’t aware of the drama until I saw the other replies.
I restored the post with commentary, not quite sure how it all happened.
Thank you for clarifying
You removed the post instead of replying and put your intended reply in the removal reason.
That’s the way it got recorded, but like I say, that’s not what my intention was.
🤣🤣🤣
That was the first comment, not the second. You’re mistaken on what is happening.
Also, why did he post the exact same thing and not just restore the guy’s comment?
I am no fan of jordanlund but this seems like an actual mistake. He did remove the comment with the apparently intended reply text and has since restored the original post.
The whole thing makes it look like jordanlund is incompetent because he couldn’t tell the difference between a reply and a removal reason. Maybe they look the same, I dunno because I don’t mod anything.
Don’t drink and lemmy, kids
You can’t expect ppl to be sober and moderate content lol.
Oh, god, isn’t THAT the truth!
That comment isn’t the one removed from what I can tell. That’s an entirely different comment. That’s why I think you’re mistaken. The one you’re showing was already restored when I made this post.
Only one of the two similar comments was removed, and it was Darkard’s.
Then show us the one that was removed. You can also go into the modlogs.
I’m obviously wrong here, maybe misguided. I checked the logs through his name and you’re correct. I did see that exact comment though. It’s all very strange.
Give me the modlog entry for the second comment. As seen in the screenshot the reply the mod posted was put as the reason for removing the comment (‘for the following reason: “They wouldn’t have…”’); that wasn’t the content of the comment. Check the modlog and see for yourself.
FYI, I did check the modlog. I think they have a holding pattern for a few hours on their logs or something and now let them through. It seems to be the case on this community as well since I see someone’s comment was removed and they were banned but you can’t see the log.
You’re right, that was the reason and I misunderstood or OP was fibbing on what really happened.
I will say this, there was still no reason for them to remove a similar comment, but that’s my opinion and I’m not a mod there.
If you filter for moderation actions upon Darkard, you’ll find a moderation action for ~50 minutes ago that restores the same comment that was deleted with “? bogus removal?”. People who are mods can also see that the restoration was also committed by jordanlund.
As I said, I checked the modlog, but didn’t check his specifically. I didn’t realize that was an option.
It was restored once they realized what happened.
I didn’t see any other comment removals in the modlog. Posting the modlog is a rule here for a reason. If my understanding is incorrect then you need to prove that in a way that can be verified.
I saw he restored it because he’s noping out, lol.
I had entirely forgotten that I’d blocked jordanlund
Good lord it’s always Jordan. Sucks so much.
It’s been a couple weeks since our good friend Jordan was in here for something stupid.
Well this escalated somewhat…
Anyway, all sorted, now back to your regularly scheduled drama.
This would have bugged me for a bit if I didn’t track some things down. I learned a few things through this, so thanks for pointing all of it out.
Lemmy world is run by trump administration probably.
Not enough money in the WORLD for me to work for Trump.
Says the most famous liberal on Lemmy.
liberals… trump…
Aww, am I famous? LOL.
Famous to me.
You have the same energy as the democrats that laughed at pro-Palestinian protesters at the DNC, and only half their hair.
Oh, no, I have way more hair than that, it’s just not on my head. ;)
First time I’ve ever heard of somebody bragging about being a neckbeard.
He is trying to be likable, don’t fall for it!
You should have been there the year my kid asked for an honest to god fedora for Christmas… Thank god it was just a phase.
I do think they’re ran by a corporation of some kind, but I’d lean more towards a social media company like Meta or Reddit. They power moved themselves as controlling the front page pretty early on.
They power moved themselves as controlling the front page pretty early on.
Its about banning from specific sublemmy like news, politics, political_memes, and world such that only a specific world view is allowed to filter through, and frankly, Jordon Lund isn’t even close to the worst offender. By far, squid was an order of magnitude more editorial. Jordon’s got issues like his completely ridiculous on what counts as a news source (he bases this on the technology stack a site is producing content under rather than if they have an editorial review board or not), but as a volunteer mod doing a thankless job, I’ve tried to give them some grace when it comes to their actions.
Its wearing thin though.

It’ll be nice when we have communities that don’t abuse their moderation power like this.
