  • Well, they were adopted by an American couple who, for reasons I do not know, were in eastern Europe during the 90s buying babies. (I have no reason to think that there was any other reason than religious guilt.) This particular baby was sold at a steep discount because it was found on a train half dead, and was not expected to survive.

Flash forward several decades and they are reasonably stable. They are fine physically from what I know. They had some trouble with social interactions and anger management, which might have been related to a difficult start… But I think that was probably their odd religious family and addiction to social media.

Otherwise, they are very smart. They have a college degree in a science field. I haven’t spoken to them in a few years, but I have no reason to think they won’t have a better than average life.

  • Well, the planet will bounce back without us. Sure, it won’t be the same… but a billion years ago was pretty different from now.

Great Oxygenation Event: Around 2.4 billion years ago, a type of photosynthetic microorganism—cyanobacteria, often called blue-green algae—began producing large amounts of oxygen as a byproduct of photosynthesis. At the time, Earth’s atmosphere had almost no oxygen, and this new oxygen was actually toxic to most existing life. The result was it killed most of the life on earth including itself, and new life forms adapted to oxygen.

So in a few billion more years, whatever intelligent life pops up will look back and think of us as just another algae problem.
