The New York Times has revealed U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has become the de facto viceroy of Venezuela, effectively controlling Venezuela’s finances, the distribution of its natural resources and its government. Rubio’s informal role began after U.S. forces attacked Venezuela in January and abducted Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores.
Maduro’s former vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, has since served as Venezuela’s acting president, but the Times reports Rubio has essentially been running the country from afar, even controlling Rodríguez’s public appearances and statements, as well as her governmental appointments. The Times likened Rubio’s role to that of Paul Bremer, who was installed by George W. Bush to run Iraq after the 2003 U.S. invasion.

Can confirm. The pressure to use AI in the tech industry recently reached a fever pitch, right before they started to claw back its use due to the implementation of token-based billing.
This has been a genuine mass psychosis event. I am convinced that pretty much every single manager in every IT company in the West has some degree of AI psychosis.
They have genuinely lost their minds. My supervisor at work said that “We need to adjust the way our brains work to work more efficiently with AI”. It took every ounce of self restraint I had to not call him a fucking lunatic.
When Google’s CEO said that AI was the “most important invention since fire” or something like that, managers, business idiots, HR and marketing people all completely believed him, and still do. The thing is, AI is really effective at automating large portions of their pretend jobs. But anybody that does actually productive labour realised AI’s limitations years ago by now, and largely fucking hate it.
People have outsourced so much of their thinking to the bullshit generating plagiarism machine that when the bubble bursts and a bunch of these unprofitable AI companies go bankrupt (up to and including OpenAI, Anthropic, Oracle, etc) I worry that a lot of people are going to have full on mental break downs, or worse.
What do these cryptic words and numbers mean? Does line go up or down? Give it to me all plain-like.
