@built_on_hope That hasn’t stopped companies really anywhere historically? Investors want projects to funnel money into because they are running out of profitable investments. If there’s a bunch of new oil rigs that they can pay to build, that creates new profits and provides more opportunity for capital to circulate.
@built_on_hope Venezuela has some of the biggest reserves of raw resources in the world, including oil, silver, and others. Those resources would be a huge boon to multinational corporations, though to be fair some of them can really only be processed by China.
@Bolshechick @Boise_Idaho China has no formal military treaties with any other nation except for one: North Korea. China does not form mutual defense treaties like the US does, they operate with a different diplomatic playbook (learning from the failure of the USSR). If you try to apply an American framing to their actions, you’re going to end up confused.
Yes they’ll continue providing assistance behind closed doors, but it’s highly unlikely they break their streak of no foreign wars.
