I would not put it past the nutjobs (of any country) to pass a law that requires that each and every person* ensures their own replacement if not also surplus to that effect to make up for those that can’t. Or won’t.

* of course, by that point they might have created propaganda if not also a law about who or what counts as a person, because they only want more of those, not anyone who might be classified as less than one.

If Russia had the weapons, troops and skill to start taking on other European countries, they’d apply those in Ukraine to finish the job, so this threat must be a potential intelligence, technical and FUD offensive… which Europe should already have been on guard for, because that sort of thing has always been #1 in Putin’s playbook.

This reads like a tacit admission that European governments have let their attention lapse, nearly drove into a metaphorical ditch, and now they’re wagging their fingers reminding everyone else not to let theirs lapse.

I don’t know about that. Europe is white majority so it could well split the right-wing on how acceptable immigration is from those places.

And the last thing Zelenskyy would want is for Poland to decide to ally with Russia. I’m sure Putin would love that. Another few million troops, and then no-one to defend Poland or Ukraine when they’ve both destroyed each other, so he can roll in and take control of both.

I think your reading of the situation is a little twisted, but I agree that Zelenskyy has made another poor choice here.

That is, the UPA weren’t Nazis, they were playing the “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” game and trying to take advantage of the destabilised political situation in Europe at the time.

What the UPA did, however, is not forgivable and Zelenskyy should have thought twice about invoking that memory.

You can guarantee that Binface would be more than willing to show up in both places frequently. He might even go so far as to represent Clacton properly. Perish the thought!

(I can imagine that if he won they wouldn’t let him into the Commons due to not being dressed sensibly and then refusing to recognise him if he does so, because that’s the sort of dirty trickery I’d expect from Parliament. So I’d be very interested to see what he does in order to comply with both directives at the same time.)

Much as I’d like this to be 100% true, I’m taking it with a pinch of salt. Some of the way the article is worded seems off, especially if we assume, based on the name, that the author is a native English speaker.

I really hope I’m wrong because the Ukrainian counter-propaganda folks ought to be able to do better.

Corbyn was and is no more pro-Russia than Starmer, despite the fact that a lot of anti-Corbyn propaganda painted him that way back when he was in charge of the party.

Because, for all his faults, he’s critical of Russia.

Russia would much rather have someone at the helm more amenable to Russian politics, seeking to undermine the European help that Ukraine has been getting from other nations.

And they’re getting impatient, running out of money and can’t wait around for the next UK general election.

There’s a minimum temperature for indoor work in Britain, but no maximum. The minimum for sedentary work used to be 17°C, but they reduced it to 16°C during the last government. Notably, it hasn’t been increased again under the current one. (For active indoor work, it’s 13°C. Outdoor work has no limits otherwise the country would be even less functional in extreme weather than it already is.)

Zelenskyy would have to be foolish to expect anything else at this point, so this had to have been for another reason. Possibly to prove that Putin remains a terrible person and to keep the conflict in the news.
