Nothing good is allowed to happen ever again.

Nothing good is allowed to happen ever again.
With a twist in the third act.

Reality is like that.

The SR-71, designed largely to spy on Soviet countries, was made of titanium sourced from Soviet countries.
In the decades since then I would wager the arms race against “straw buyers” has favored the buyers. Especially when it’s just bare microchips. It’s not a dinky Polish auto-repair shop ordering five thousand Tomahawk missile nose cones. Some of these smuggling operations happen by accident, because the chip someone needs happens to be used in a fancy toy car. Or if you want to get conspiratorial, a toy car can be designed to use any chip in a missile, without raising a single eyebrow.
Amateur rocketry enthusiasts have run into tracking problems because commercial GPS and motion-tracking hardware is designed to shut off past a certain speed. That’s how mundane and widespread some of these weapon components are: if you can jailbreak a TomTom and a Wiimote, you’re left making the part that explodes slowly and the part that explodes quickly.
And drones are still scarier.

And it’s pointless.
Forest, trees.

You can leave any time, you bastards.

“Ve have all zis lovely gold! Watches, necklaces, teeth… do not ask qvestions.”

It is possible for vectors between numbers to be conscious - these just aren’t.
The Chinese Room isn’t real. John Searle pointed to a hard drive and said “processor.” The whole argument is Cartesian dualism, except instead of a soul, you need Steve to pay attention. If he gets the same answers while distracted then they don’t count.

Oh, that’s easy: that summary is nonsense. Several of those bullet points are the polar opposite of things I’ve said. Compare an actual comment. Or an assessment of that posthumous Val Kilmer movie. Or this argument about typical reporting, which is quite close to the comment I was making in Fuck_AI when I was notified of this bizarre accusation.
Some of these snippy bullet points are eye-rolling misunderstandings of the debate. “CGI for dummies” is a defense. I’m speaking to people who insist AI disqualifies a text from being art, as if this is the one tool immune to human intent. I am pointing out it’s just a way to use imagery to convey an idea.
If you use this tool to guide moderation decisions, you should stop, because it has failed you.

… then what was the problem with them defederating from Anarchist Nexus? Congratulations, they did the thing for you.

And yet, when you call for murder, the people you’re calling to murder will have entirely unsurprising responses. When those people are in charge of websites, you don’t get to be on those websites anymore. Regardless of your moral righteousness, you have to temper your calls to action, if you want to avoid that blindingly obvious result.

as an anti AI troll
That’s funny. I am the lone voice routinely pushing back in Fuck_AI@Lemmy.world, and I caught shit for posting an okay-but-interesting AI-rendered short film to Cyberpunk@lemmy.zip. So far as I know I’ve never interacted with this mod, and it looks like they saw ‘threatening to murder moderators will get moderated’ as cause for overzealous moderation.

Okay great, but when that means “I wish someone would murder the admins of other instances,” those instances will respond in predictable ways, regardless of how good your reasons are.
For the murder fantasies.
It’s not a matter of who.

… but it’s not a criminal matter, so you’re not entitled to a lawyer.

Children born after Dec. 31, 2008, will never be able to buy cigarettes under the new Tobacco and Vapes Bill.
Fuck right off. That’s second-class citizenship. It’s not an age restriction - it’s treating people differently, forever, based on when they were born.
You can’t say this product is for adults only and then tell some people they will never be treated as adults.
This is intolerable for reasons completely unrelated to tobacco. We cannot allow any form of this discrimination.

As opposed to what?

Rules for thee.

Any form of ‘you don’t own it, you can’t fire them, they don’t pay you’ slides right off The Idiot’s brain.

Mass hysteria, cats and dogs living together, human sacrifice.
So any given Monday.
Rewilding, step one: fuck off.
Been doing a pretty good job on that front.
Recent rowdy Russian tourists notwithstanding.
