  • I’m surprised the authors didn’t mention the means-testing scam Democrats are running. They show how consultants drain the party’s money, but they miss how politicians shrink their promises to the bare minimum. Instead of fixing big problems like healthcare, housing, or prices, they figure out the least they can offer and still win. It’s the same game as the fundraising: it serves the consultants and donors, not voters. They tell us “democracy is on the line,” then offer us scraps. No wonder people feel the party asks a lot and gives little.

  • There is a company that keeps lists of people. CIA money built it and now a billion dollars pays it to map neighborhoods for raids and comb Medicaid rolls for names. Medicaid. People went to a doctor and that is how they got found. Two more companies run the cages, nine of ten souls ICE holds are in their buildings, and their profits rose seventy percent, and somebody got a bonus for that. One man helped found the list company, then founded a think tank that makes it a crime to sleep outside, and keeps his money in the cages those laws fill. And the banks hold stock in the eye and the cell both. Push any of them and they all say the same thing. The company did it. Not me.

WOE unto them! Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees and write grievousness! A company has no legs to stand before God. Men do. And they will stand, not sit behind counsel, not send a statement, and their ledgers will be ash and the only book open will be His, and there is no page in it for contracts. I was a stranger and ye took me not in. I was sick and ye looked up my name. I was in prison and ye OWNED the prison. They brag their deals are no-bid. That gate is no-bid too. No lawyer. No appeal. No payout. God was never once fooled by a letterhead. The day cometh that burneth as an oven and they will have nothing in their hands but what they did to the least of these. Nothing. Repent. Be afraid.

  • Join the club of being owed money. Edward J. Friel Co.: a Philadelphia cabinetmaker never paid more than $83,000 for work completed in 1984 at Trump’s Atlantic City casino. The family business eventually closed. (wtvr) The Paint Spot (Miami): owed about $34,000 for the Doral renovation. A judge ruled for the shop and later ordered Trump’s company to pay about $300,000 in legal fees. Andrew Tesoro: the architect of the Westchester golf clubhouse, offered just $25,000 on a much larger bill. (alternet) Atlantic Plate Glass: lost $450,000 in its final settlement over work on the Taj Mahal. (enewspf) Michael Diehl: a piano dealer who was only partly paid for Taj Mahal pianos.
